A big thank you to Rebecca, Sherry, and the staff at Mobile's Bellingrath Gardens for hosting me this past Friday. We had a nice little turnout for my reading and a fun conversation about writing.

Take a hike!! In a good way. It's National Take a Hike Day, so skip work, skip school, hit the trail and enjoy the solitude of the trail.

I was so proud when I received the email telling me that my short story was selected to appear in the 23rd edition of the Emerald Coast Review. Out of over 175 entries by incredible writers, poets, and artists on the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast, 70 were selected. Available through Amazon.

It's National Jersey Day. I couldn't decide if they meant sports jerseys or the state, so I compromised. Go Devils! :)

I spent all night revising my writing bucket list. Well, not all night. Okay, maybe five minutes, but still...

So there I was, in Books-a-Million in Gulf Shores when I passed an end cap and saw it - Notable Women of Alabama alongside Hiking Waterfalls Alabama. I didn't realize Hiking Alabama was right below.

Three steps to becoming an author:

1. Find your favorite mug
2. Find your favorite brew
3. Keep it coming

It's hard to believe that after 25 years of writing and 20 books, I have never done a reading. That's about to change Nov. 14 @ 10:30am when I read some fun stories from my books and other writings at Bellingrath Gardens & Home in Theodore, AL. Mark your calendar and I'll see you there.

A change of venue this morning - the dining room for writing, but the routine is the same - a mug of hot tea, the music of SiriusXM 40s Junction playing softly in the background, and my protagonists meticulously putting the pieces of the mystery together at a radio station in 1943. Duh-duh-duh!

That's a wrap! It was another fun conversation about my latest book, "Notable Women of Alabama," last night. I can't thank Ella, Trista, and the staff at the Fairhope Public Library enough for hosting me.

You never know who will be at one of my presentations and book signings. I was once upstaged when Pete the Cat made an appearance. But he was a cool cat about it. It could have been a cat-astrophe, but claw enforcement was not required.

Whatcha got planned this Thursday? I hope you'll join me at the Fairhope Public Library (501 Fairhope Ave, Fairhope, AL) for a presentation and signing of my latest book, "Notable Women of Alabama." It all starts at 4pm and admission is free. I hope to see you there.
