Now to relax after a frantic first half. Can't remember the last time I've seen us play Liverpool and they've not even had a shot on target.

An article about how the end date of WW2, and the shift from war to peace, isn't exactly as clear cut as you might think, from the finest living historian to have come from Cheadle (probably)...

I'm a sub to the Sheffield Tribune's sister paper the @manchestermill.bsky.social, and it's stories like this which show the real power of local media to cover things which might otherwise not get the attention they deserve. Really feel for the people in the story being preyed on by Andrew Milne.

Accidentally sent a reply in my football group chat to our vets as well (no idea how), which is quite embarrassing. Still, the vets can probably now guess who our cat Vinny was named after...

Had a group of trick or treaters knocking on earlier who I would guess were in their early teens, and one was dressed as Ali G which... Seemed like a reference that surely is too old for them? Unless I'm really out of the loop.

(I am, I left the loop a while ago)

Fair play, they were better than back in 2007 at Leeds festival (I don't think the wide open spaces of a festival worked for them back then). And I was wearing (some) purple and everything!

Mancini being in line for the Forest job is absolutely hilarious. A famously argumentative and emotional manager, working under Marinakis - what could possibly go wrong?!

As yes British football in the 1980s. Well known for its good-natured fun. He's a ridiculous person.
Jenrick casting 1980s British football hooliganism as something that was easily dealt with by police and not an era defining issue which we're still living with the consequences of today... He's genuinely the most unserious person in British politics rn

A fun thing about uninsured cars: I can, at any moment, type a number plate into my phone and find out if a car is uninsured. police cars can, at any moment, automatically use ANPR to check the number plate of the car in front of them. It is illegal to combine these two capabilities
