Interesting how in the CS I was brought forward for an interview at a G7 role, but only scored 2.33/5 for a HEO role.
Application process for the 2.33 was very different from standard, it was through a system called "Applied" and did not follow the usual CS format.

I've noticed speaking with other UXers lately that, like myself a few weeks ago, there were plenty of people who haven't been interviewing in several years now.
I've started interviewing this week after not doing so seriously since 2023, so here's my experience 🧵

You can't convince me GTA 6's delay is not related to Rockstars union busting behaviours www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Grand Theft Auto studio accused of 'union busting' after sacking workers
A union representing people in the gaming sector said 31 people were fired at Rockstar's UK studios.

Reminding myself of previously effective job applications things from other times in my life.
For example, sending a thank you note to the interviewers after the interview, just making yourself available for more conversations and maybe reminding them of your existence has worked well for me before

You know, maybe I CAN kind of understand why people might think that birds aren't real.
the ocellated turkey is named for the eye-shaped spots (ocelli) on its tail feathers

Just came across a research spec where one of the requirements for the participants was continuous speaking for the full 45 minute session with gaps in speaking of only 2 seconds or less allowed.
WTF, awful companies running unethical garbage. But we don't need UX Researchers anymore . . . 🙄

Another week of job applications.
Postings have slowed, hit the "red" in my applications numbers today. I do have another civil service job to apply for but the applications take longer and they don't have the "rush to get first" thankfully so I'll tackle it after my Interview on Monday.

Had an awful introductory call with a UX Career Coach last night.
Can't believe their course sells for $3000. And they kept pushing it could be financed!
Lots of respect lost for the individual running it.

Hey folks. I was impacted by the layoffs at Amazon today. If you or someone you know is in need of a UX Researcher with multiple years of experience leading or supporting research initiatives, games or otherwise, please DM me or reach out to me on LinkedIIn. www.linkedin.com/in/cdwheelock

Welp it only took 2 weeks but I seem to have maxed out on the backlog of jobs to apply to.
Thankfully it looks like there's some junior roles available which is a good thing for the market and a positive sign for the UX Research industry in general.

My cats are not handling the clock change well. Eldest cat was already begging for food 30 minutes to 1 hour early. They are both very distraught at our sleeping in the past 2 days.

Jobs applied for Sept/Oct: 38
Rejections: 6
No response (so far): 32
Longest ghosting (so far): 38 days
That doesn't include jobs I applied for before I started tracking again. I still have pre-COVID unresponded to applications out there for sure.

I wish salaries were still public.
I've probably wasted the past 10 months, especially the past 2 weeks, asking for too much because my current package is benchmarked to the salaries in 2023, and salary surveys are a year behind.
I'm looking at a 20-30% drop. I've been asking for 0-15%.

Quickest rejection I've ever received. 3 hours from application

Maybe the redundancy consultations benefit certain fields and jobs but oh my gosh do I wish I could just walk away with a lump sum right now instead.

While Attenborough's narration and commentary was excellent as always, I found the Our Story exhibition to be underwhelming visually. Too much CG and animation. Nothing I haven't seen before as a nature doc lover. 360 room didn't do anything new.
Should've been released on TV instead.
