Spent Thanksgiving driving the kids from Pittsburgh to Columbus, through a persistent light snow in the hills (picked them up at the Pittsburgh train station last night).

Ideal, really.

Very, very old ones. In particular the original Wizardry and Gato (an ultra-simple submarine game).

Wouldn't really need to update game play, either, although if you could add the sound of a disk drive whirring whenever anything happens in Wizardry, that would be great.
I would like to know! 🤓👾

When i was 16 i went to England with my parents. The highlight was seeing the musical Chess in the West End. I loved the music, listened to it all my life; shared it with my kids, who loved it too.

Tonight they went together to see the revival of Chess on Broadway. So glad they got this experience!

To be clear: OUCH.

Positives: cut off my shaggy hair & enjoyed a soothing shower by candlelight.

Negatives: i am "tweaked my back putting on my socks" years old.

(I cut my hair down to stubble; my wife is making the adjustment, but she's not quite there yet)

As i watch the annual onslaught of turkey-related posts get underway, i am warmed by the thought that there is no traditional Thanksgiving meal in store for me this year.

A lot of people, and in particular the media, have entirely lost their grip on the idea that there is a way things *should* work, that there are supposed to be rules. Coverage of Trump & MAGA is always this tacit might-makes-right garbage

Corstopitum/Coria began as a Roman military base in a strategic position. A bridge carried the north-south Dere Street. This road met the east-west Stanegate Road at Coria. It became a hybrid place, a town with some military installations, in the later 2nd C.

Well, that's awful.

A good point! At the same time, we have to go further and reject MAHA framing entirely. The debate mustn't be about who is & who is not deserving of healthcare; that road leads to some real bad places
Yeah, if you grow up in a food desert, or near a polluting company, or work for a company that doesn't let you take appropriate breaks, or get hit by someone else's car, shame on you for not taking care of your health.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

I have never before gone to the dentist thinking i had a problem, & it turns out i . . . don't?

Just a bruised root, under a badly-made (and now reshaped) crown, that should, hopefully, improve on it's own.

My kind of result!

I'd like to do that "What perfect album came out the year you turned 16" thing, but . . . there aren't any. For me that was Fall '86, and the best '86 album, to me, is maybe Billy Joel's The Bridge? Maybe?

I actually spent (only) my HS years listening to oldies, so i don't know '85-'87 music.

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

i fully agree with this theory and in my actual field, british architectural history, The Problem is that Salisbury Cathedral is built on top of a lake and no i am not exaggerating
between this and the FSO Safer (another ship at serious risk of exploding) I’m convinced every field has its “yeah, this is the problem that keeps me up at night” and I’m on a quest to learn about all of them

Really entertained to find that in the past couple years Duran Duran (sort of) have released both a Halloween album & an album of vaguely dark covers, incl some of their '80s hits. And i like both of them. (i was not a big DD fan as a kid; i liked some songs, mostly b/c a girl i liked WAS a big fan)

Republicans again trying to help corporations. Push kids into low wage jobs that adults can’t live on.
