I've been spending time sorting, reorganizing, and doing some re-bagging & re-boarding, today I finished the Legion of Super-Heroes books in my collection. I now have a better idea of the holes in my collection. Now on to my Justice League, Justice Society, Green Lantern, and Deadpool collections.

In 1982, at 8 or 9, I bought The Best of DC Blue Ribbon 31. In it 4 stories, one each for Black Canary, Elongated Man, Red Tornado, and Zatanna, joining the #JusticeLeagueofAmerica. I no longer have the digest, but I do have 3 of the 4 JLA Books, #75, #105, and #106. Only missing #161 for Zatanna

Nine year old me, loved the "Beasts" storyline from Justice League of America 221-223. From the opening arena combat, Hawkman being impaled, to the final fight on the small island off the coast of #Newfoundland. My one beef was, the whole story I thought they were building Reena for JLA membership.

Before 1985s Crisis on Infinite Earths this DC Comics Presents Annual #1 from 1982 laid an important thread as the Supermen from Earth 1 & 2 team up on Earth 3 against both of their Luthors and Ultraman. This book introduced Earth 3s Alex Luthor & Lois Lane, the parents of COIE's Alexander Luthor.

My favourite team is the #LegionOfSuperHeroes, and that included The Legion of Substitute Heroes. From saving the Legion in secret, to their 1st parade, I liked the Subs. Then I read these, DC Comics Presents 59, and The Legion of Substitute Heroes Special 1, and then. . . I really liked the Subs.

My favourite team, and my favourite Legion character's first appearance. Dawnstar joins "Superboy and the #LegionOfSuperHeroes" cover date Apr 77. I think Dawnstar became my favourite Legionnaire after her part in the first issues of Crisis on Infinite Earths in 1985.

#Marvel Comics Alpha Flight Vol 1 #2, cover date September 1983, on sale 14 June 1983. The origin story for Marrina, Newfoundland and Labrador's member of Alpha Flight. Growing up, Canada didn't get a ton of mentions in US comics with the exception of Marvel, and for DC, Canada barely existed.

I loved All-Star Squadron in the 80's, the concept of exploring Earth-2 during WWII, and how they fleshed out DC's Golden Age characters. On top of that, with covers by Joe Kubert, Rich Buckler, and Jerry Ordway the All-Star Squadron had some of the best covers going at the time.

Happy Birthday (a day late) to the great Jim Aparo. I always thought of Aparo as the Sal Buscema of DC: a brilliant, and absolutely dependable, artist/storyteller who never got enough of the high praise he deserved. Everything he touched was gold.

I guess DC Comics is advance soliciting the Crisis on Infinite Earths remastered edition now, and I want to help promote it, so here’s another pic of my inks over the great George Perez’s pencils that will be included in the edition! Enjoy, and preorder through your local store!
