In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

Nearly every Fri before Shabbat, I tweet:

May we rage when we must and rest when we can.
May we build the peace we so desperately need.
May we turn our hands, in all things, to the justice that peace requires.

The only liberation is a shared liberation. May we have courage sufficient to build it.

I can confirm the PBS Passport is a very good deal for $5/month or $2.50/month if you do yearly.

Thousands of hours of top notch content. NOVA is great. The new Ken Burns doc on Leonardo da Vinci is excellent.

You can sign up at the link below!

I realise that reading vast amounts of fiction, and buying about three times more than even I can read, is neither a substitute for therapy nor a solution to everything out there. However, in my defence, just fucking *look* at everything out there.
