I am so proud of my husband @n-w-f.bsky.social’s new book: Animal Crossing New Horizons: Can a Game Take Care of Us? It’s deeply personal and made me cry (in a good way). He got his preview copy today (it’s out Oct. 9 ) and I just have to share the preface…. Congratulations, my love.

If you’re a survivor of sexual abuse… it is a tough time to be online.

It’s ok to take breaks. It’s ok to cry. It’s ok to rage.

Whatever you’re feeling is valid.

I like to remind myself what Gisele Pelicot said… “shame must change sides”

We’re going to make the abusers feel shame now.

A bad thing is unfolding at NIH this week: It looks like the Trump administration is trying to replace key civil servant scientific leaders, the Institute Directors, with political hires. These directors control the NIH budget, tens of billions.

U.S. Catholic bishops voted Wednesday to make official a ban on gender-affirming care for transgender patients at Catholic hospitals.

Remember the immigration raid on the apartment complex in Chicago almost two months ago? The one with the Black Hawk helicopter and federal agents rappelling on ropes? @ProPublica decided to take a deeper look. We found little evidence to support the government’s claims. 🧵

This is rape culture.

This is why so many people don’t come forward.

A young girl was being bullied at school by a boy who made AI generated nudes of her.

She told the principal. She told the guidance counsellor. They didn’t stop it.

Finally she hit the boy responsible, and SHE got expelled:
A Louisiana girl hit a boy who was sharing deepfake nude photos of her. She was expelled.
“This girl was abused,” one of the family’s attorneys said, noting that she endured sexual exploitation and harassment. And the expulsion “was like pouring salt in the wound.”

A teenager with a homeless parent? What? The fuck? Did she have a home and not allow her parent to live in it? Ended up having sex with? What? Yeah clearly you guys been caping for pedos long enough and you understand the assignment here
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

This is far worse than anyone expected.

Trump's HUD plan would cut *two-thirds* of permanent housing and push as many as 170,000 formerly homeless people back onto the street—redirecting funds to work mandates, forced treatment, and encampment sweeps.

All as mass internment camps are being built.

I want to also uplift the men who were boys who were sexually abused in a society in which there's zero willingness to acknowledge that yes of course boys & men can be raped, that in fact jokes about such rape, that gives boys no tools, not even the measly tools given girls, to confront that fact.
