A few small scenes from a recent trip to Mount Rainier with a client. Always something new to see despite many visits.

After a gray and wet morning, I decided to stick around once the clouds started to break. I thought, this is rainbow weather. I set up on one of my favorite compositions and waited.

I just had a cancelation on my once sold out Oregon Coast workshop Oct 22-26. Details on my site.

What's up Bluesky? Just got back from the peninsula. I plan to spend more time sharing images and viewing other's work here. If you have a favorite photographer I should follow, drop their @ in the comments. I'd like to see new inspiration.

It’s Wednesday, I’m heading to Olympic National Park to do a little exploration ahead of my workshop next week. Here’s some waterfall images from the area.

Sand & Soul

Wind swept dunes and storm light were certainly good for the soul on this beautiful evening. Dates for 2026 workshops are now available on my site. Can’t guarantee conditions like this, but even clear skies are great for dune photography.

A few spring greens from #olympicnationalpark on this fine Wednesday. I still have a spot remaining on my workshop here May 14-18. Details on my website or just send me a message if you have questions. Should be a great time!

A trio of rock detail images I enjoyed making while on a pleasant hike in one of Death Valley's more accessible canyons. I've been visiting this area more frequently on my last three trips to the park. So much to see and observe.

I’ve been editing new work from my trip to Death Valley almost every day since I got back. Definitely one of the most intense creative trips I’ve had in awhile. Feeling energized. So, more dunes!

Summer is still a ways off, but I’m looking forward to these views…assuming National Parks still exist in 4 months. I still have one spot left on my workshop August 11-15.

My fascination with the shapes of dunes continues. This time at 600mm.

A Fond Farewell

This was the last composition on a memorable evening in Death Valley's Mesquite sand dunes.

I’m going to leave this here. It’s an abstract I shot this evening.

Here’s another mirror image, this time of a waterfall for #waterfallwednesday.

The spirit of Palouse falls is in there.

You never know who’s watching. I have quite a few of these “mirror” images I’ve made over the years. Perhaps I’ll share more?

Sailing in Greenland. This one is from last year. Will be there again this summer!

The storm clouds were ominous. The rain and wind inhospitable, but I persevered and was rewarded. The sky opened, clouds ripping apart, and golden light spilled onto the landscape.

One more Monday full of monochrome from one of my favorite National Parks. Speaking of, I just have to say firing park and National Forest employees is definitely not making America great. Our natural resources protected for all to experience, now and into the future makes us great.

There’s a massive 217’ (66m) rock formation with sea caves just offshore, but the views at my feet were just as intriguing.

Why do they call it black and white when there are so many tones in between?

Probably the most photographed rock on the southern coast of New Zealand. This boulder looks like a prehistoric egg broke open, a relic of the past.

I’ll be speaking about seascapes on Sunday the 9th for Out of Chicago Live. Still time to register!
