A short WIP for tonight's #WIPWednesday. I'm currently deciding whether to publish the whole fic once it's been completed or commit to a biweekly single chapter upload.

“Seokjin-ssi, how does it feel to go against your own team captain in the finals of the World Championships?”

Seokjin smiles. “It’s very surreal, I can tell you that. Yoongi-ssi and I train together, so we know each other better than anyone else. Although that aspect of our fight was mentally very challenging, I think we achieved a great outcome for Korea.”

“Tomorrow, you will be fencing together in the team event,” the reporter continues. ”Do you think tonight’s win will impact your teamwork?”

Yoongi notices the smile slowly slipping off Seokjin’s face. “No, of course not,” Seokjin says quickly. “I trust Yoongi-ssi’s decision-making and will follow his lead as team captain.”

“That’s great to hear,” the reporter says. “Can we expect another gold medal tomorrow, then?”

Seokjin pauses for a moment before he speaks. “We have been training very hard for the past year, and we are all in great shape. I don’t want to make any premature predictions, but I believe we can win a medal tomorrow as a team. Yoongi-ssi in particular has been working incredibly hard to ensure that everyone - myself included - knows what we need to do tomorrow, that everyone knows their role within the team.”

Despite Jimin’s smaller frame, there’s an easy dominance to the way he holds Taehyung, something possessive even in the surprisingly gentle way he cradles the back of Taehyung’s head with his hand.

Yoongi doesn’t want to, he tries not to, but when Jimin’s eyes move to him, he can’t help but stare back. There’s a challenge in Jimin’s gaze, and as much as Yoongi wants to pretend it isn’t for him, he can’t resist the feeling that wells up in him, a hot, bitter surge of something that he can only acknowledge as jealousy.

They look good together. Like they belong together, two opposite yet equally desirable ideals of male beauty. Taehyung, tall and dark like a hero from a romance novel, and Jimin, lithe and delicate, sharply, cuttingly, all-destroyingly beautiful, like a knife he wants to be wounded by.

Yoongi swallows, loath to speak out loud the thing he knows has happened, the source of these sudden feelings for Taehyung. He’s somehow managed not to have a breakdown yet, because he let himself be distracted, try to think around it, because maybe that would mean it could be undone—

It can’t be undone. A soul bond is a soul bond. He, and this demon, and Taehyung— they’re irrevocably bonded for life. Maybe even after that, if the stories are to be believed.
