Psychotherapist, mental health trainer, amateur photographer and digital artist. Interested in patterns, in all of these fields.
Conveying words and images that might bring people some understanding, appreciation, connection, empowerment, or a smile.
Bluesky fail for me: because it’s so easy to follow tons of people and because there is no algorithm for making content reappear, any post gets buried within 30 seconds, never to be seen again, unless it’s a popular post that gets reposted.

Ironically, #Bluesky rewards the major creators after all.

Is it only in Ohio that, when I apologize, people respond by commenting on my well-being?
Also, how can they state with such confidence that I am, in fact, fine?

Here is what could be called a floral arrangement.

I used the fourth photo to make all of the others.

I liked the curves of this leaf with two beetles on it, and turned the whole thing into a kind of pinwheel shamrock.

This is one of several ways I played with a photo of an old-school card catalog; see the first image full size to see the little drawers.

Some blades of grass with droplets, which I folded and reflected and rotated into patterns.
Four more in a comment.

Someone challenged me to make some digital art out of the first photo, even though it didn’t have any big shapes and a lot of the photo was blurry.
Here’s a sample of how I responded; a few more images in a comment.

This weekend amidst practical and mental tasks and social and athletic activities I took a moment to take a close look at the flower of the well-named “Ornamental” Onion.

Someone suggested that I make some of my “mosaic” art with a photo I took of a rocky beach at sunset.

Here I play around with a photo I took of seatback video screens on an airplane.

In this turbulent time, l turned my attention away from crashing waves and undertow to focus on a little translucent shell amidst pebble-shaped sand… and then Imade patterns.

My wife is in Paris; remembering my last time there with her, I am pulling up this standard photo I took, and doing some non-standard stuff with it.

Predawn glimpse of an Ohio tree,

Plus designs I made with a long series of reflections and rotations and one overlay.

Sometimes eople ask me what app I used to generate my digital art.
Sigh.

I have tried “kaleidoscope” apps, and it’s boring, there is no control over the details, no opportunity for expression.
Taking time to meticulously crop, rotate, reflect, and assemble pieces is hard, but satisfying.
ai art is like being a runner and youre excited for a marathon and youre training and then someone comes up and says 'why not use this new 'car tech' it can drive you to the finish line and youll have run the marathon without that pesky running'. then theyre confused when you say no and run instead

Today’s pattern, made from a how do I took in a previous season, of a flower such as I hope we will be seeing soon

Random recent photo appreciating the quiet frosty hues and sharper lines of winter before the emergence and unfurling of many curves of color in spring.

One day recently in a small city park, I embraced the mix of civilization and nature, captured the poles and wires and contrails instead of my usual practice of editing them out.

Friend of mine was making a drum and paused to take this photo he thought I could play around with.

Four views of the same tree I came across yesterday; which view and framing do you like best?

Hope you enjoy these previously unpublished variations of “mosaic” patterns I made from a photo I took of a hospital atrium.
After some trial and error, it was satisfying to line things up just right to create the second image, making it look like two unrelated lines were extensions of each other.

Nighttime snow
Brings morning signs
Of early morning critters.

Two patterns I made from a photo of cracked pavement; I held the edge of my water bottle at the edge the frame to create possibilities like the second image. The original photo and one more variation in the comments.

At a rehearsal held for the first time
in an art space, I was challenged by a fellow singer to make some of my designs out of this display of a sculpture of two clown shoes.

The second design includes bits of another work of art that was in the background.

A view from behind an unnamed frozen waterfall formed in winter from (persistently!) flowing water diverted around the more well known (in Ohio anyway) Dundee Falls, when it gets frozen.

As global warming spreads down from the poles, I am sad about flooded island nations, angry about sabotaged international cooperation (the world did ban CFCs and saved the ozone layer),
but I also will miss more occasions to see peaceful gently falling fluffy snow. (My Wooster OH backyard today).
