We have a desperate shortage of care workers. This has a catastrophic effect on the NHS too.

Labour’s decision to close the care worker visa scheme for overseas recruitment is appalling, kneejerk politics that - yet again - will penalise the most vulnerable.

What the heck Labour?

How are they going to force reluctant Brits to work in the care sector.

It might help if care work was properly funded and valued.

I'm dreading having to need care.
Care homes will be prevented from recruiting staff from abroad as part of an overhaul of rules to drive down net migration, Yvette Cooper has said today

The UK is already facing a desperate shortage of care workers

If you scoff and laugh at Health and Safety, think again. Health and Safety saves lives on a daily basis, in and out of the workplace
40 years ago a horrific fire at Bradford City's Valley Parade ground claimed the lives of 56 people. It took less than four minutes for a small fire to become a raging inferno. Warnings had been ignored.

Surprise close encounter with, what I hope I've identified correctly, as a Moorhen family. Two adults and a small ball of fluff ringed in blue.
Chanced upon them on a path by a lake and they didn't flinch. Lovely moment

Here's a wonderful 🧵 well worth following to the bottom so to speak.

👏👏 👏 to Mary Rose Museum
On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we thought we'd answer a question that's often asked,

"If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?"

Allow our scaled diagram to explain...

PNG Courier on point as usual. So disappointing the way this Labour government is going. Weren't they supposed to try to get us out of a hole, not throw vulnerable people in a deeper one.

Wonderful stuff from the PNG Courier's correspondent. On the button as always. When someone shows you who they are, believe them first time. Quite.

Dear me. High up on the silly questions list. What next, asking about Boudica
"Is the PM proud of our role at the Battle of Agincourt?"

An absolutely genuine question put to Keir Starmer's spokesman at the morning lobby briefing just now

Irony lost on her then
Oakeshott, who recently emigrated to Dubai with her children, explaining how "integrating" there was "not really challenging" as it is "90pc expats", beams in to complain about too many immigrants in London.

The Farage-athon in our media has to stop. All he represents is the weaponisation of prejudice to keep people angry and uninformed. But headlines about him go on and on, building up a myth instead of exposing him for the nasty little con artist he is.
Years of this shit. Please can 2025 be different.

Everyone needs to be aware of this

@the-bma.bsky.social
Today @gmcuk.bsky.social starts regulating non-doctors as it opens voluntary registration of AAs and PAs. It does so without any national agreement in place to confirm scope of practice for these roles, and so puts patient safety at risk.
