Grandparents 🧓🏽 are special in all societies. In Indigenous cultures, they are our wisdom keepers, cultural guardians, and spiritual guides for our families and communities. They are the vital link to our heritage, passing down traditions, stories, and language that will carry on throughout time.

Ricing 🛶, the hand-harvesting of Manoomin (wild rice) 🌾, is profoundly significant in Anishinaabe culture. It reflects a deep spiritual connection to the land. In this photo, taken in 1982, Charlotte “Rosebud” Boulley is harvesting wild rice on the Bad River Band of a Lake Superior Ojibwe community.

This story was written by Lyle Harvey. His words carry the wisdom of generations. As the Oak Ridge Fire threatens our lands, our hearts are heavy with concern for our Relatives.
Our prayers and songs are not just traditions—they are medicine.

🌟 In times of crisis, children turn to one powerful tool to cope: PLAY (naané). The Oak Ridge Fire on Navajo Nation remains at 0% containment, but we’re doing all we can to support our communities—starting with the children. Because even in the hardest times, PLAY brings HOPE.
