These people expose themselves in such creative ways. "'Chinky' was meant in a nice way 20 years ago". "Everyone at school experimented with racism."
Nigel Farage asked about Reform MS Laura Anne Jones (who the Senedd Commissioner found had used a racist term in a staff WhatsApp chat in August 2023 while discussing TikTok writing: “No chinky spies for me.”)
"Well, she used a word that colloquially, probably was meant in a nice way 20 years ago."

I think at this point if you're including Diane Abbott - a woman who has never held government office, has been a backbencher since 2020, and is scarcely a government ally - on your list of political wrongdoers, we all know exactly what your real concerns are

Finally got round to setting up a Substack! And I've published the piece I shared with a few of you last month - on the intellectual crisis within Labour's liberal wing.

Intellectually adrift, where does Labour’s liberal wing go from here?
The tradition of Gaitskell, Crosland, Jenkins, Blair and Brown stands at a crossroads.

honestly one of the most striking things about epstein's emails is the fact that the man, described in many places as "a genius," is essentially subliterate

So, while lots of it makes no sense, neither does "this nepobaby owns an oyster farm and is thus a horny-handed son of toil". You can underthink it as well as overthink it.
Could someone explain to me what is meant when a British person refers to "the middle class" ? Like, in the US, as I hear it, it basically just means a person who makes a certain amount of money, not too far below and not wildly above the median. Seems like a complex concept when UK writers use it?

The only thing anyone needs to know about Cummings is that he edited his blog to look like he predicted Covid when he hadn't, then boasted publicly about having predicted it.

Imagine the kind of person who would do that, and ask yourself if anyone should ever listen to a word they had to say again.
For anyone still tempted to take Dominic Cummings at all seriously, he's now an advocate of Donald Trump-style open racism.
