The HST holiday starts today… perhaps I will hugely regret heading out to shop today. We shall see. The goal was always to spend time with my niece so hopefully it’s not a zoo.

So here’s a fun fallout of the postal strike. Our business credit card was compromised last weekend. We use it for all of our beer & wine supplier payments. There’s easily a handful a week. We’ve locked the card and will be cancelling it, but with the strike when will our new one arrive?

Canada’s new GST/HST “vacation”: assume this is HST in Ontario and businesses don’t need to set up collecting & remitting PST?
Will this delay holiday shopping & spending? Are we going to have a mad rush the 2 weeks before Christmas? Will it motivate some post-holiday spending?

I might have bit off too much today. I have wanted real greenery for the front of our restaurant since we went to Derbyshire for Christmas 2 years ago. I’m working away at making some garlands but it’s slow going! Needed a wee break.

I’ve now had a roast beef dinner at every Legion in our municipality in the last week. That’s 3 roast beef dinners and I’m not sad about this.
