Wow! A new low for Ken Paxton. His deranged press release claims that there cannot be any legitimate purpose for legal defense for people facing deportation — effectively saying that removal defense is not legitimate and only “radicals” would want people to have lawyers.

Horrid stuff from him.

Neurodivergent friendship is a funny thing. You can find your people and have amazing connections with them, but be too overwhelmed with life to stay in touch, but miss them dearly and feel lonely, but be too burnt out to even send a text. 😩

This shutdown was better than no shutdown, but @nicholasgrossman.bsky.social is right that it could have been better and achieved more. And that the country needs a real, strong, committed opposition party. Not there yet. www.arcdigital.media/p/democrats-...

This thread is horrifying, and is only happening with the complicity of Congress and the Supreme Court
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

I wonder what the Venn diagram is between those denouncing appeasements like this and those who celebrated Title IX consent decree after consent decree enabling the Office of Civil Rights to dictate college sexual assault and sexual harassment policies.
Cornell agreed to pay $30m, hand over admissions data with demographic breakdowns, produce annual "campus climate" surveys to check on antisemitism and changes "since October of 2023," and—here's the dumbest part they agreed to—that the govt can open new investigations whenever it wants.

Appeasers.
Cornell has reached an agreement with the federal government to restore our funding:

The most important takeaway from Tuesday night’s elections — the one that has real implications for 2026 and 2028 — is that Democrats won EVERYWHERE, in many cases improving their 2024 performance by striking margins.
Opinion | America’s voters are perpetually angry. Tuesday proved it again.
Speaker Mike Johnson was misguided Wednesday when he said of Tuesday's elections, “I don’t think the loss last night was any reflection about Republicans at all.”

For the second time in a little over a week, ICE officers reportedly shot someone in Los Angeles.

This time, it was a US citizen who ICE officers shot from behind after he warned them that children would soon gather for the bus where they had pulled over a vehicle.

Why Commanders Don’t Sign NDAs
Existing rules and laws applying to military secrecy are sufficient—and asking officers to sign NDAs is deeply inappropriate.

WILD story. A DHS officer shot at a man he thought was fleeing (a judge dismissed all charges). Bullets went into the driver's side window, through his jacket collar, and into the empty passenger seat. An MPD cop on the scene says he was ordered not to put it in the police report.
A D.C. task force shot at a driver. It’s not in the police report.
Neither D.C. police nor the Department of Homeland Security have explained why the Homeland Security agent fired his weapon.
