A reminder that Israel has used the dead bodies of Palestinians as bargaining chips for decades.

Last year Mustafa Barghouti explained that Israel is holding over 500 bodies.

Israel is using the failure to return the bodies of hostages as a pretext to violate the ceasefire themselves, but as Nour Odeh points out, the ceasefire agreement did not contain a timeline for the handing over of the bodies & Israel already knew it might take weeks or months.

Here’s what you need to know about Starmer’s illiberal protest curbs: they would have killed the Labour party at birth | George Monbiot
The rights we enjoy in the UK, and the movement the PM purports to lead, were built on protest. Those rights are in dire peril, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Posts from those living through starvation in Gaza, showed produce with dollar price tags, at extortionate prices

Such Israeli tactics serve 2 purposes...

Creates tension & divides population into starving & just surviving…

It also squeezes every last ounce of wealth from those imprisoned there!!
“Bowen, of course, carefully ignores the part Israel played in arming these criminal clans and letting them steal food aid. The clans then sold that aid at inflated prices to a small group who could still afford to pay, while everyone else starved.”

Once again, Jeremy Bowen is misleading the British public about Gaza
The BBC international editor is required to report what Hamas actually thinks. Otherwise he is not a journalist, he's just another western propagandist

Staff and students came together early on a Friday morning to send us into negotiations. Our @leicesterucu.bsky.social community is amazing! Shame our managers were not willing to actually negotiate. At least they listened and they certainly heard the crowd behind us! The strike continues.

The negotiations did not lift the threat of compulsory redundancies, so we'll be on strike again in the coming week.

Stop. Copying. QMUL's. Worst. Practices. @ucu.org.uk.

Seriously, this is embarrassing.
Do you want to know how UCU senior management has responded to UCU branches calling on them to remove their threat of deductions? This is how.

How would you react?

Watching what our own @ucu.org.uk union is doing to @uniteucu.bsky.social workers is making me relive a lot of hurt from when QMUL did this to us (I wasn't quite aware of how much this was still live trauma but whew...)

Absolutely unconscionable that *our own union* is causing this long-term harm.

Jo Grady must resign (in shame). She is not fit to have her name associated with the trade union movement.

Why is @ucu.org.uk engaging in the very behaviour that we/it publicly call out when members’ employers employ such tactics?

It is shameful. It undermines every branch of #UCU

It’s utterly destructive to staff morale and our branches’ leverage

Not in our name.
