incredible photo that's definitely worth at least 1,000 words from Andrew Harnik of Getty

Look, this is basically the rich narcissist version of seeing Jesus in the burn patterns of your toast or whatever. The only difference is that because he has millions of dollars, we’re supposed to act like it’s brilliant instead of certifiable.

Just finished this to ring in October! Quite the vibe. An interesting little book. Found myself saying “Are the men ok?!” multiple times 😆

These private group chats are just the lyrics to "Everybody" by Backstreet Boys.

Dude: Am I original?
All dude's friends: YEEEEEAAAAAHHH
Dude: Am I the only one?
Dude's friends: YEEEEAAAAHHH
Dude: Am I sexual?
Dude's friends: YEEEEEEAAAAAHHH
Lots of great details in @semaforben.bsky.social's latest; extremely helpful for mapping out who is influencing whom on the right. Have been thinking for a while that private groupchats are at least as crazymaking as public social media, and much harder to study.
The group chats that changed America
A loose private network on Signal and WhatsApp helped usher in the new alliance between Silicon Valley and Donald Trump’s new right.

I’m only about 120 pgs in, and oh my, this is a heavy book; it weighs on the spirit. The casual bigotry. The lauded and sanitized violence. The hypocritical religion. It makes me want to toss the book in rage, but I’ll finish. What an incredible journey they made. ❤️

You really can’t go wrong with James Baldwin.

I’m not much of a poetry person (to my never-ending shame), but this beautiful little piece really spoke to me last week.

Look what I found at the antique mall! A first edition, no less. Thrilled to report that Dixon’s writing is just as terrible as @hcrichardson.bsky.social warned me it would be. A bigot and a terrible writer to boot. 😂 Fascinating little piece of American history.

Just started Ulysses S. Grant’s personal memoirs not too long ago. There is something deeply relevant and weirdly charming about this little anecdote.
