Perhaps May 27 would be the best day - the day of the 1967 referendum in which more than 90% of Austrlians spoke as one. We have never been more united.

Anti-fascist is good. But anti-immigration is not a fascist postion. It is about sustainability, lifestyle, conservation. People with an anthropocentric focus don't see this. We need to leave ample room for abundant, diverse nature. As well as ourselves. Globally we are overpopulated by so far

Food for thought. Topical in Oz and everywhere because of the rise of the blinkered far right.

Once upon a time there was a (male) politician worthy of the office he held, an Australian. Look at this list of 42 monumental initiatives, transforming this country from a bigoted backwater to a shining example of decency. We have soooo lost our way.

Later, as I was waking up it occurred to me. I had not long left home and was going to Uni. My father was a very rigin thinker - each thought in its own shell. But I was beginning to think for myself and chase his rigidity away. It was a dream of self-validation. Cool eh?
I had a dream. Walking along a jungle path I disturbed a giant turtle. One step and I was overlooking a mud flat covered with giant turtles basking in the sun. But I had disturbed them and they all began to move off - quite quickly for giant turtles. What could it mean?

True the world over. The means by which big business owns our governments - corruption in plain sight. We need a duty of care. If you live in Australia, please signhttps://adutyofcare.davidpocock.com.au/petition

To the animals: May we be forgiven. Jane Goodall
We can only hope that, in future, rational and responsible decisions will prevail. Then you might once again see forests being properly regenerated — tall trees regrowing where they belong — helping Australia tackle both the climate and biodiversity crises. #auspol #deforestation #climate
If you go down to the forests today, you’re in for a big surprise (mass deforestation)
Visit many areas of state forest in parts of Victoria and you might get a shock – the forest isn’t there.

I am Australian and do not understand what you are saying here Kathy, but I totally get that our democracy is vanishing everywhere. Most of all, governmemnts everywhere are owned by Bib Business and doe their bidding.

I wonder how Hamas and the Palestinians will assess the value of their invasion of Israel.

And Mandela? Jailed for 27 years at the age of 42, 18 years in Robben Island in a small cell doing hard labour. Released in his early 70's and elected President. Then, realising he had to govern for all South Africans, he simply let go of his resentment and did just that. What an inspiration.
As peace in Gaza looms it is a good time to channel N Ireland and Nelson Mandela. N Ireland achiveded peace when both sides realised if they kept doing what they were doing, they would keep getting what they were getting. So they both stopped... and suddenly peace broke out and has held ever since

Ah yes, human rights, yet another human construction. What happens to them when humans cease to exist? And for that matter, when did they start? The earth is thought to be 13.8b years old. Humans have been around for approx 300k years. When did they acquire rights?

So I am not pro-Palestinian. Those who are, hate me, assuming I am pro-Israeli. But I am not. I see both sides as disgusting. How could you not? I am pro-peace and stand for both sides to just stop. As happened in Northern Ireland and they have lived in peace ever since.

ANZ fined $240m for disgraceful behaviour. When are these bankers going to be punished personally for such rubbish? It is time we sent some senior execs to jail.

They are everywhere, but the USA leads the way. Has done for years, but taken to an entirely different level by Trump and his sickophants.
