The last of the ‘Little Murmuration’s will be disappearing into the post at the beginning of next week( once they are dry!). Anyone feeling they have missed out may like to contemplate a fresh faced young etching cousin- ‘Venn Murmuration’. Message me for further details.

I’ve been delivering prints to the wonderful Ropewalk Gallery in Barton and Humber. I am their Ms. July Etcher - no, they promote an artist’s work on long gallery shelves and this month it’s me. Go see, it’s a great gallery with a fab cafe. They gave me lunch- it was very good.

Not a print but a plant based painting, drawing on the tiny tangled wildness at the side of a footpath in the middle of suburban Leeds. It’s a riot of plant vigour, buzzing with insects and birdsong. I love it there.

Call me a prude, but the beak and talons would scare me

I know, not an etching, what am I up to? And why am I posting it here? Not much idea. Watercolour and ink is what I have tended to do on holiday , instead I am feeling intrigued by the tangles of plants along a footpath a hundred yards away. Etchings may emerge, or not!

New etching with aquatint. It’s called Venn Murmuration. Only 10 x 10cm so a bit of a #miniprint. Fresh off the press.

In the changing room at the gym next to a woman with two very small children called Harold and George. Longed to ask whether she was attempting the re- creation of the Labour government of the 1960s but restrained myself!

Currently engaged in polyamarous printmaking. Really tend to prefer monogamy simply for clear headedness. Anyway here is the copper plate for an #etching where the title was the first element to arrive: #Venn #Murmuration

And this is how it ended up with the aquatint added. Now called “Dappled things - Hackfall”.

Best ever photo of the “flying” squirrel. I’ve no idea why it’s in focus. Good leaping the pesky little devil, then I banged on the window and it fell off the bird feeder.

Biting a somewhat ambiguous bullet and applying an aquatint to this small (15x15 cm) etching of Hackfall Woods. Was tempted to leave it as below , but I’m not renowned for managing that kind of precise restraint, anyway we shall see!

First set of scratchings nearly done- another view of Hackfall woods, such a magical place. Made for the Gallery at Masham’s, “A particular place” exhibition in the summer. #etching #woods #woodlandtrust

#freshoffthepress Good afternoon’s printing- Bracken edge, More Breathing Space - and brand new and as yet untitled, featuring this year’s primroses… any thoughts on names, lovely blueskyers?! Rewards for one which I use and I’d prefer it to be a little more complex than Primroses, my current idea.

Wrens flying out of the studio very fast… though all are actually going in the same direction. For £99 plus postage one can fly to your place….

New #etching the product of all that scratching. It looks ok at phone screen size but has some odd unbitten areas which I hope can be sorted through judicious aquatint use. Needs a bit of strengthening. Does not just go right first time! #fox #allotment

A printing day- one older and one brand new. ‘Crow’s nest’ is suddenly in demand again and this is the first of the finished edition of ‘Copse’. Running a bit low on names for groups of trees.
