Beautiful warm morning. Surveying the rack and ruin of the garden, astonishing to see tomatoes and courgettes flowering and fruiting. Potatoes I must have missed sprouting again, after the rain. Water on for my neighbour’s cows, moving into my bottom field here to finish off the sorghum.

The Memorial at Mauthasen, Austria to the some 5,000 Spanish Republicans who were murdered in the camp. Erected in 1962, I believe this is the only major memorial at Mauthausen that wasn't paid for by the respective State of the victims, but rather by donations. No surprise why...
