Nothing is more embarrassing to me than showing up at a store just before they open. I just assume they’re inside, pointing at me through the locked door, laughing about how badly I want batteries or socks or whatever.

I met Jimmy Carter in my town when he was running for President in 1976. He spoke to me and afterwards the local paper wanted to know what I thought. I said "my mom thinks he's cute!" and it made print. Mom was horrified! She liked that he looked like the dad on The Waltons.

Costco responded to shareholders requesting that it withdraw from DEI policies. The response was direct and to the point: Costco says, "Our board has considered this proposal and believes that our commitment to an enterprise rooted in respect & inclusion is appropriate & necessary."
