Happily busy with work, gardening, dogs. Especially dogs. Post mostly about The Archers. Or dogs. Or complete nonsense. Repost implies nowt.

I'm getting reports that a firm is cold calling people "offering grants for renewables and quoting that MARTIN LEWIS had encouraged people to engage with the company."

The call is UTTER BOLLOCKS! This is not true. Don't trust them. Politely disengage and don't speak to them.

Son is now saying he needs a head CT. I’m a little more concerned (but don’t tell him that)…

Phone call from (adult) son:

Can you do me a favour?

What?

Could you please go and walk the dog? I’m worried he’s on his own.

Yes, I think so.

You see, I’m in Urgent Care.

Why?

I’ve been hit on the head with a metal bar.

Well, you could have opened with that, maybe.

Could we maybe have a new GDPR rule that says we have to opt in to our email address/phone no being used to request feedback/reviews? I seem to have tens of emails a day, often still being chased weeks after I paid for things.

Isn’t it bad enough that the Australians are engaging in pre-Ashes nonsense? Surely the English commentators don’t need to join in?

I learned a new term today - pre-bunking. It’s the preemptive debunking of misinformation, and apparently it works a bit like vaccination to protect people from misinformation. A (rather long) article here…
Could this be the cure for fake news?
Most organisations have been fighting fake news when they see it. But what if there were a way to stop misinformation before it even starts to spread?

I as just in a seminar that was talking about using evidence. Someone mentioned this game. It was designed to teach people about misinformation.

I get very frustrated when well-meaning people throw completely invalid comparisons into arguments. No matter how well-meaning, it doesn’t help anyone to talk nonsense.

Dogs Trust is running a UK campaign to restrict the use of fireworks. If you feel like it, you can email your MP via a web form.

(The web page writes the email for you, but if you personalise it in some way at the beginning it may be less likely to be dismissed as campaign mail and deleted) #Dogs

I love that they are attempting this. The harms caused by this scandal are many and complex and this, done well, could really help to heal. The Restorative Justice Council is very good at this, so 🤞🤞

Read in public. Read in private. Read e-books, genre books, comics, fanfiction. Read literature. Read nonfiction. Read books you’ve already read. Listen to audiobooks. Read what you want. There’s no such thing as “doing reading the wrong way.”

Horrible situation, and man on tv saying people are being ‘gaslit’ about mould being their fault isn’t helpful. Sometimes mould is worsened by condensation caused by lifestyle and ppl need to be helped to understand the actions they can take. That’s not victim blaming, just public awareness.
