Academics should be jealous of the viewership that Wikipedia gets, but may be struggling with the incentive to only write for journals.
Good news: you can do both in one go! Submit to WikiJournal of Science (a Scopus-indexed journal) a candidate Wikipedia article (or revision of an existing one).

Today marks 100 years since Afrikaans was recognised as an official South African language. The Afrikaans Wikipedia is the 69th largest edition of Wikipedia and boasts a vibrant, diverse editing community.
