It would have been an absolute pleasure to be able to join you at Donostia! But it was already a pleasure to interact & present the work that we have been developing at #UnivCoimbra to recognize & reward masters & PhD candidates for reproducible reusable & open research! #TREASURE #CoARABoost #pilot
This afternoon @inesatalmeida.bsky.social delivered a powerful keynote on rewarding early-career researchers for reproducible, open practices. It deeply resonated with the community!

Germany decided not to turn its back on privacy, at the last minute. We're very happy for that.

But we're not out of the woods yet, and awareness raising like this is essential.

We're so relieved to see Germany reaffirm its opposition to the dangerous Chat Control proposal--the one that would mandate mass scanning of communications. Germany's long been a solid champion of privacy, and the news that it was considering backing mass surveillance was alarming. 1/

We haven’t solved the problem of human motivation because it’s unsolvable (in current form). A solution: Motivation centers on a single source of value - affect.

The <“derivation chain” (Meehl, 1990).. necessary for translating theoretical claims into empirical predictions (Scheel et al., 2021). Any weak element in the deriv.chain — a vague theoretical concept, an unreliable measure, an untested assumption — can invalidate the inference drawn from the data.>

Quantitative studies are not valid. Rather, we make an argument for the validity of inferences from such studies. This checklist can help authors consider aspects of the validity argument as they design their study. (1/2) #PsychSciSky #AcademicSky #EduSky

Minimum resistance: Challenge every new 'initiative' if you think it comes with more costs than benefits.

Moderate: Petition for change. You can do this within your University (Microsoft Forms) with other like-minded people.

Bold: Lobby funders. Why should they waste money? More on this soon.
