I mostly like Kruse, genuinely, and I don’t believe he was doing this consciously. And maybe there is some of this that was him genuinely being swayed by the messaging! But man, at least realize it’s happening and account for the change.
Weird how at some point the ACA subsidies went from meaningless technocrat babble that it was obviously incredibly stupid for Democrats to try protecting to being incredibly important for helping people avoid suffering.

And Democrats managed to get it wrong both times!! What were the odds?

Y'all do realize that even if Dems retake the House and the Senate *and* end the filibuster, they still won't have veto-proof majorities, right?

And Trump will absolutely veto anything they pass.

He probably would have also vetoed ACA extensions even if Republicans caved.

Y'all know that, right?

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Y’all decided that the Supreme Court didn’t matter in 2016.

Y’all decided that your integrity mattered more than stopping white nationalists from taking complete control of the government in 2024.

So what do I look like giving a chicken fried fuck about y’all hollering about Dems “caving”?

What an amazing essay from the former chair of Africana Studies at Bowdoin. I'll share a few sections in the reply but seriously, read the whole thing. It's all insightful and beautifully written.

it is just amazing how much congressional reporting is just reworking "why havent you rolled over yet? do you hate america?" until you clock out for the day
I love how Rep. Joe Neguse reframed this question.

This right here. Bezos/WaPo withholding an endorsement? Musk's Twitter turning into a cesspool of disinfo?

The left AND the right played exactly into the hands of the rich.
If people wanted to make sure centrist ratfuckers got *less* influence in the Democratic Party instead of *more*, they should have gone to the mat for Biden.

The monied interests got exactly what they wanted, and their media arms ensured everyone online repeated the meme of Biden Brain Bad.
I do kinda think the notion that Biden was drawing dead in the counterfactual where the party doesn’t knife him has been agreed to by acclaim more than it has been argued

I don't believe the leaders of the far right authoritarian party in Congress will actually fulfill their oaths & do their jobs. But they & the (supposedly) "moderate" 4-5 GOP Senators & 5-10 Reps who could end this all tomorrow by temporarily joining a popular front don't even get asked about it.
Yes, I know what they’re going to say. But they don’t even get <asked> why they’re violating their oaths every day, or what they’re going to do about the daily trashing of the Constitution.
I don't expect Johnson or Thune to actually do their jobs. They want these policies & have also demonstrated they willing to violate their oaths & are on board with the lawless authoritarianism. But...no one <even asks the questions> of them. Or of Murkowski, Collins, etc. Free passes. Every day 🤷‍♂️

It sounds like the Republicans should stop protecting Bill Clinton and release the Epstein files.
Comer: The evidence we gathered does not implicate President Trump in any way. Public reporting, survivor testimony, and official documents show that Bill Clinton had far closer ties to Epstein

The longer this goes on, the more Americans want to know why Republicans are protecting pedophiles.
Republicans continue to postpone the swearing-in of Adelita Grijalva, the newest Democrat elected to Congress, for a 20th day.

Her day one promise is to be the tie-breaking vote to release the Epstein files.

Subject of Investigation: Are some Congressional Republicans Nazis
Means of Investigation: look at them
Conclusion of Investigation: yeop
Politico received an initial tip that a Taylor staffer had a swastika neatly pinned to his cubicle during a zoom call. When confronted, the congressman’s press office pretty implausibly sought to present the situation as a police matter, and Politico went along with that in its headline and lede.
Capitol Police called to investigate swastika in GOP congressional office

An American flag altered to include an image of a swastika was found in Rep. Dave Taylor’s office.

Going to be a bit ironic if what saves us from the Federalist Society is federalism.
Same time that Pritzker is telling city and state officials to start arresting and prosecuting federal officials for assaulting Illinois citizens.

OT1H, this is clearly really bad.

OTOH, our federalized design might end up being an absolute godsend.

If the ~ correction ~ does not immediately hurt, it will be because "AI" will get a bailout that is proportionally more harmful and ridiculous than the biggest banks got post-2008. These billionaire fuckos are running all the levers and gears, and it is folly to imagine they won't fuck us all.
“Concerns over an AI bubble bursting have grown lately, with analysts recently finding that it’s 17 times the size of the dotcom-era bubble and four times bigger than the 2008 financial crisis.”

Hang onto your butts. This “correction” is gonna hurt.
