I was just watching a startup panel and someone on staged asked a pointed question about 4 “big sobering moments” in recent history:
- 9/11
- the financial meltdown
- the COVID pandemic
- Trump II

No matter how much people dislike other politicians, there’s only 1 that fits in this set.

Oh dear you’re going to want to read this. Looks like DOGErs were caught exfiltrating NLRB data, likely on unions, for private (seemingly Elony) use. This is must read. What we’ve all suspected. But now details. www.npr.org/2025/04/15/n...
A whistleblower's disclosure details how DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data
A whistleblower tells Congress and NPR that DOGE may have taken sensitive labor data and hid its tracks. "None of that ... information should ever leave the agency," said a former NLRB official.

I know this first hand. When I was a child, my entire community was branded as spies and sabateurs, justifying our internment inside barbed wire camps for years without due process, trial or charge.

If we’re serious about making CA more affordable, sustainable & resilient, we must make it easier to build housing, clean energy, transit & climate projects.

Our report makes it clear: the system isn’t working, & it's on us to fix it. More via @frombenc.bsky.social calmatters.org/housing/2025...

Things you could have done last week without getting a ticket from the Berkeley police: ran a stop sign on the wrong side of the road speeding with your lights out at night while display no license plates or fake license plates on your car with illegally tinted windows across a crosswalk.

Jeff Bezos never wanted this cartoon to become public.

He killed it, and as a result, pulitzer prize editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes quit.

Make sure everyone sees this cartoon.

If you're shopping around, it's good to know that the Berkeley Public Library has access to Consumer Reports. I've always been happy with the decisions I've made based on that. www.berkeleypubliclibrary.org/explore/elib...

Evening, folks -- as promised, I'm doing my first Bluesky live thread of a local city council meeting tonight!

This one's a doozy: the affluent Bay Area suburb of Menlo Park is considering turning 3 downtown parking lots into housing, and people are *furious.*

Grab some 🍿, 🧵starts here!

One reason I left Twitter was because of the nonstop (in-) fighting between the centre/centre left and the left in housing circles. In an effort to build a bridge early on here, I’m going to talk about my experience, both lived, and as an academic/activist. To kick things off: zoning is racist.
