Just published! We show that eukaryotic ribosomes can handle bicistronic mRNAs by leaky scanning. Efficiency depends on codon usage and splicing on the upstream ORF. This helps understand non-canonical translation from polycistronic viral mRNAs.

On the importance of being (biologically) faithful. We show in this preprint that there exists an equilibrium in the #noise and fidelity levels in information transfer in biology, that depends on the environment, #populationsize and #genotypetophenotype mapping.
