Time to fix the biodiversity leak
The risk that locally successful nature conservation may be shifting problems elsewhere can no longer be ignored

I agree to some extent Peter. My concern is that it sets the bar too low for rewilding in the UK. I accept that rewilding exists on a continuum and we should look to be encouraging/open but livestock/meat production is a red line for me. Anyway…a pint at some point to discuss.

Hi Peter, yes I think it is recent. I think they’re doing a good job with restoring the site, but perhaps use regenerative farming or similar? Rewilding seems to be a marketing tool. As Tony Sinclair would say, if rewilding is everything then it is nothing.

Yes it does.

The air is cool and quiet in the mornings on the Knepp estate in Sussex, England — quiet, that is, except for the lilt of birdsong and the rumbling beat of hooves, as cattle are loaded onto a truck to take them to the abattoir…Agricultural rewilding is an oxymoron.

Entirely what you'd expect from the NFU but are there other, genuine, conservation issues to consider before more WTE translocations in England & Wales?
