Ach diese Berliner CDU? Ich bin schokiert....

Spent 25min waiting on the phone with the Charité - only to be given the wrong information and shuffled off to another dpertment. Then had the (dis)pleasure of arguing with the other department because the information I was given was wrong.

In a surprising turn of events, I'm actually getting back almost €400 from last year's heating bill.

Armistice Day isn't something that's generally celebrated in Germany - we have the "Volkstrauertag" (national day of mourning for all the war dead) instead . Here's a pic from "the other side": My great Grandfather, who was awarded the Iron Cross second class on the 3rd of November 1914.

Having spent a part of my childhood in NRW, there are certain things that I still carry in me from there. I love the celebrations around St. Martinstag - especially getting a "Weckmänchen" but only if its got a clay pipe! Im glad you can find them in Berlin, so my kids always get one as well 🙂

A cat paw print and a foot print in two bricks from the Maria-Magdalene Church in Eberswalde, Germany (built in 1333).

And as is always the case - this thing has a dozen different names in each German speaking region - and is even traditionally handed out on completely different occasions.

I had only seen this kinda scammy bullshit in the US, interesting to see it in Germany now as well. Also - if you have to explicitly state you are not a cult, you are most likely a cult.

Imagine having to pay €15 for a 1L Budweiser at the Berlin NFL game. LoL.

What I love about my corner of Berlin is that all my neighbors (including me) seemingly have a mutual agreement that there is no need to ever use window shades/curtains. Quite literally everyone here has seen each other walk around partially to fully naked in their own house.

And if you're in Berlin you don't even need to go to Jüterbog - Just go to Westhafen and have a look at the the giant harbour depots

*Heres a rather long list of (specifically Reichsadler) Nazi symbols still found in Berlin -> digitalcosmonaut.com/nazi-eagles-...

A little thread:
Like so many cities in Brandenburg, Jüterbog has a beautiful city hall - one which dates back to c. 1285, with several additions until 1507. 1/9

There's a profound sadness in seeing these ruins - plundered, burned, neglected and sometimes repurposed. It's a shame to see culture and history be left to rot like this.

Remodelled in 1611 (though dating back to at least the 16th century) - Schloss Hennersdorf was once an impressive estate, hosting such illustrious figures as the Polish King Stanislaus Leszczyński and the Grand Duke Konstantin of Russia.

Reminds me of the entrenched Panther Tank at the corner of Badstraße / Prinzenallee, not far from the Flakturm Humboldthain. Surprising how many shells this thing managed to fire during the last stages of the Battle of Berlin.
