This just totally misses the mark. News consumption and anxiety are directly correlated. News that makes readers feel hopeful will lead to lower click-through rates. This is not some personal foible of elitist media. It's economics for ad-driven news orgs to try to shape outlook of their readers.
For sure some of the legacy media outlets are downplaying the protests because they’re aligned with Trump, but I think an even bigger factor is how many elite journalists have a patrician disdain for the idea that politics can happen in the streets and not just the CNN green room.

The whole "even my followers don't understand the ultimate plan" is classic cult stuff. 1) it weaponizes self-doubt; 2) it encourages the listener to imagine the speaker wants w/e they want; 3) it gives a sense of superiority once the listener imagines they and the speaker share a secret plan.

Just a reminder that Richard Hanania is not a centrist and has not changed his white supremacist views. The data most definitely doesn't show crime rates are about race unless you ignore every other causative variable (urban/rural, poverty, population density, etc.).
