Half-term fun/madness is underway!

Reading in bed is a true joy on a cold evening.

Busy day today catching up on all the thesis writing I didn’t do while I was ill this week. Already done 1,000 words but many more to go. Long may the focus continue! 🤞🏼✨

Finally have a bed frame after sleeping on a mattress on the floor for five months! Next on my list of lofty aspirations, some proper bookshelves! 👀

The end is in sight for my latest reread of Clarissa. Poor Clary! 😭

Thanks for all the well-wishes! The talk went really smoothly and we had some lovely post-lecture chat about Wuthering Heights. ✨🍂

Decided to continue my reread of Tom Jones last night. I think because I’m anticipating the funny bits, the more upsetting subtext is coming through rather strongly. Feeling less ‘funny haha’ and more ‘funny how people can be so cruel.’

It’s been a long week. Maybe I just need a glass of gin… 😬

It’s almost a month since I published ‘You’re a Doll, Daisy!’ My latest satirical romance tragedy.

I’ve had so much encouragement and support for this novel, thank you!✨

Here’s a reminder of the inspiration behind poor Daisy’s tragic tale.

Almost done preparing for an upcoming public talk. 😬 Any advice from seasoned public speakers would be welcome!

Good morning!
Just been watching some interviews with centenarians from 1986 while I have my coffee.
Now onto practicing for my public talk on Wuthering Heights which I’ll be giving at a woodland storytelling day on Saturday. 🙂✨🍂

Leaning heavily on the emotional support of the Tracy Beaker theme tune to get me through thesis writing tonight.

I can make my world come true,
all my dreams will see me through… RIGHT? 😭🫠

One of the main perks of living in the same village as my parents is that I can use their coffee machine every morning. Also they have a much nicer and sunnier garden than I do; it was especially glorious during this morning’s visit. 🍂✨

I swear, nothing makes me feel more unintelligent than trying to write this PhD thesis. I might never attempt to articulate an educated thought ever again after I’m done. 🫠🙃

Currently listening to my audiobook on 3X speed because if this narrator isn’t speaking faster than I can form a new thought then I will forget that I’m meant to be listening to the story. The ADHD diagnosis will come as a great shock, I’m sure.

Miss Betsy is trying her best to be chosen from the TBR pile today.

Repost from The Bad Place™️:

The most delightful and encouraging review for 'You're a Doll, Daisy!' - my first review on Amazon UK.

So thankful for authors like lovely Jane who build up other writers much earlier in their career! 🤍✨

We have a rare blank spot on our calendar— a Sunday at home with no visits or visitors, so we’re enjoying a family of three day in the village. Went on a nature walk, played at the park, made a bug hotel in the garden, and now a relaxed chill at home. 😌✨

A new dawn, a new day and a new pack of pens to therapeutically colour my to-do list. 😌✨

We went with the Easy Classics Oliver Twist for our bedtime story. Got very distracted explaining life for some (many) unlucky children in ‘the olden days.’ He seemed to enjoy it though and take the difficult themes in his stride. ✨
A fab little book haul for Mini T. We couldn’t wait until bedtime so read the three picture books with dinner. Such lovely stories and illustrations.
Plus the Dickens for kids collection!

Since I joined the new place, I keep getting an error message when I try to post on Twitter. It’s like Elon knows… 👀
