Following on from our very popular December webinar on 'the invisible labour of #PublicInvolvement' registrations are now open for the second webinar in the series, on Emotions in #PPI, led by colleagues from @penarc.bsky.social.
Come join us!

@arceastofengland.bsky.social @elspethma.bsky.social
What role do emotions play in public involvement? To what extent is PPI labour emotional labour? Join us to explore how we can recognise, value and make space for this kind of labour in research.

I had an enjoyable time presenting at the RadResearch Conference in Leeds today, hosted by RadResearch and the NIHR-supported Incubator for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiographers. I really hope my presentation inspired attendees to embed #PPIE #PublicInvolvement into their research plans 🌟

I tried to create a #PPI / #PPIE feed, but found it a bit confusing. If anyone else want to have a go - please do. Otherwise I'll try again another day 😅

Only today in an ARC sesssion on #evaluatingPPI we were talking about invisible work and emotional labour in #PPI and #co-production. Great to see @louca-mai.bsky.social will be speaking about this next month.

It’s labour that is not recognised, costed or valued - yet it’s essential

So pleased to see this adapted version of the #EQ5D for people with a #LearningDisability we began this work in 2014 & @johnodwyer.bsky.social made it happen.

If research is going to be inclusive we need to think about #Inclusion at every step, design, process, recruitment, measures

Over 200k people waiting (on NHS waiting lists) for an autism, surely this is the point at which something has to change.

The current models have never been sustainable and are only becoming less so.
The waiting list for NHS autism assessments has surpassed 200,000 for the first time.

Today's data shows that as of Sept 2024, 204,876 people were waiting. That's more than the population of Reading.

Children face a median wait time of a year for *first contact*.

Great to get so many new follows from health researchers here on Bluesky! But I hope you’ve actually left X—because if you still have an account, you're supporting Elon Musk, who continues to back Trump. We all have a moral duty to choose platforms that reflect our values 🌍💙 #LeaveX #HealthResearch

Do you know what happens at the end of a clinical trial?

Once we've collected all the info we need, we analyse this data. This allows us to find out:
📈 How effective a treatment is
🚨 How safe it is
🤢 If there are side effects
⚖️ Whether it is better than the current treatment or placebo

Co-designed by our amazing public contributor @louiseting.bsky.social and our Young People's Advisory Group, we hope it helps young people understand the contribution they can make.

Thinking about involving public contributors in your
#qualitative data analysis? You will need to:
➡️identify their learning needs
➡️send out materials in advance
➡️be responsive to their needs
➡️read AliceMoult's paper on how her team did it!
