I promise we did vote on MMOs, it's just they, er, didn't quite make it in.

PC Gamer's Top 100 didn't have a single MMO in it this year—here are my 3 theories as to why we did that
I've run the numbers, and by run I mean look at them a bit and sigh.

Much of the hand wringing, imo, is over a critic explicitly saying they are judging the moral fabric of a piece of art because of the tools used to create it and it’s making some folks feel uncomfortable and shamed. The people who feel that way should sit with that feeling.

Different line of work, but while we’re on the subject: Not a single word of anything I’ve written at PC Gamer or elsewhere was drafted, edited, outlined, or in any way generated by AI. And not a single word will be, because it’s antithetical to the thriving of the human spirit.
We don’t use generative AI at Strange Scaffold and I can confirm that a *lot* of other studios are not—whether indie or AAA.

Get outta here with this normalization bullshit.

oh yikes. yikes yikes yikes.

Mellits i have misspoken. if you are being held at gunpoint please blink twice
this article is terrible for the obvious reasons, it was also written by an undergrad intern which raises the question: why are editors making her do a story people are going to dunk on her for and/or why are they accepting this pitch / not editing it better. not good!

Mellits is obviously making ragebait I'm under no obligation to take seriously, but I gotta wonder how you write "the younger generation allows themselves a tiny treat once every seven days" and call it overspending without immediately bursting into flames because hell has misplaced one of its own
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

hades 2 is great but its visuals are ass if you're colourblind (me)

so much red on dark grey/purple. typhon in particular is just protanapia hell

and it kinda sucks there's no colourblind support; i long for the day where that's ubiqutous as subtitles, but it's just absent here

(after doing (almost) all the optional momentos and going through my anime training arc at the flea carnival beating Seth's scores:)

Borderlands 4 has one of the worst UIs I've ever seen in an RPG and runs like absolute garbage.

Also, I spent 47 hours playing it in a blissful, loot-addled daze. My review:

randy pitchford livetweeting about how we should all simply accept the hands we're dealt while a hard-working dev team at gearbox pushes a bunch of optimisation updates (one of which, kudos, made a huge difference) is genuinely very funny to me

made it to act 3 of silksong and the fact this thing just keeps going is wild to me (good)

difficulty discourse all you like i'm a complete sicko for this and im having such a good time

the fact Silksong still has boss runbacks is proof that Team Cherry was making this in a complete vaccum for over half a decade

this is both a good and bad thing

wishing everyone here the best of luck, and feeling very grateful for my current situation

my colleagues at PC Gamer have never pressured me to work like this; things can get stressful because that's the job, but im not pressured to skip lunch or work past my paid hours
Ziff Davis and IGN routinely decide that work done by our laid off colleagues is not important. But inevitably, that crucial work falls onto those who remain.

Not this time. Not anymore.

The thing that caused it could be any number of things, but I can't emphasise how terrible shutting down Mare - a plugin that let players share their cosmetic mods - is for FF14 right now. Let's just look at the facts:
