While we are on the topic of Watson and how he stole the credit from Rosamund Franklin, I think it's only fair to fess up that the guy who showed Watson the photo Franklin made was (potentially) Maurice Wilkins, a New Zealander. He possibly did so without her consent.

I’ve met/listened to a couple people who met Watson while I was at uni. What struck me about their stories of him is that they both were virtually identical in how they described him as a massive asshole

My NZ claim to fame is that my uncle was in Netherworld Dancing toys! You can see him in a few pics in this article playing the sax though I do note his last name is spelled incorrectly lol

I've now started my reading on Cook's second voyage and as much as I like to keep my bias to a minimum I think I did a pretty bad job of hiding my disdain for Banks.
Well, apparently he has one last blow up before we can get rid of him so I'll get to drag him through the mud just a little bit more.
