There is no freedom without justice.
There is no justice without law.
There is no law without police.
So, there is no freedom without police.
Which is not ideal, but just a fact.

The worst way to find out about what is going on in the world is to rely on stories filed by professional journalists.

Except, that is, for all the other ways.

This is true even when they don't tell you the things you want to hear.
Many Ukraine supporters in world beat themselves up for helping to strip Ukraine of its its nukes back in 1994.
But in 1994 nobody knew what a bulwark of democracy Ukraine would be.
It could have become another Belarus or Kazakhstan.
Imagine either with their own independent nukes

Trump's doing well isn't he?
And the US market is doing worse than almost anybody else.

I am going to have to go back to Twitter.
I disparage others for wallowing in their echo chamber, yet my position on anything I strongly care about is rarely challenged here.
I might even join the Trump thing.
I want to cure the idiots.
I hate them making money out of me.
But how else to educate?

When Trump was flip-flopping around erratically it was bad enough.

Now he seems to have decided on a course of action, and managed to make things even worse.

A clueless powerful arrogant narcissist is a disastrous thing.

Trump wants NATO members double the proportion of GDP that they spend on defence.
At this rate, they won't have to spend any more on defence to satisfy him.
All they have to do is to wait until he's halved the size of everybody's GDP.

And when Trump completely mucks up the US and world economies,
like he has with so many of the other things he has run,
he won't be able to declare bankruptcy and start again with another USA and another world,
or fall back on Daddy's money,
or lie, cheat or extort his way out of the mess.

I learned a new word today:
redneckonomics
this is what Trump is practicing.

Redneckonomics is to economics
what astrology is to astronomy
or quackery is to to medicine.

The United States is going down the pan with these imbeciles in charge.

Trump and his court's superpower is that they can tell any lie, no matter how false or shameful, with complete conviction and absolutely not compunction.

They are astonishingly good at this, and so their strategy, even though it is built on lies, is hard to defeat.

This should be acknowledged.

Trump et al are negotiating with Russia, giving away things they don't own or control.
Ukrainian land, European energy deals.
They are used to doing this and making it stick through grift and extorsion. It is how they run their lives and businesses.
They will keep doing it unless they are stopped.
russia is negotiating with the United States about supplying gas to Europe via Nord Stream, the russian Foreign Ministry said.

We don't want your gas, since when does the uSA decide where Europe buys it's gas from!?

The US has agreed to lift some sanctions on Russia in return for...
.
.
... nothing!

Trumps entire team is either completely clueless or unconcerned about freedom and democracy.

Or maybe both, of course.

Remember:

The fact someone accidentally included someone they should not have in a Signal group is NOT the point. That's just a mistake.

Government using Signal like this AT ALL is premeditated criminality.
Also let’s be clear about why they’re talking over Signal — they are attempting to skirt their obligations under the federal record preservation laws and ensure no records exists for public review.

It’s incredibly illegal, but what do they do that isn’t?

Walt talks gullible nonsense.
What is "aerial infrastructure"?
Nonsense.

No matter what he meant, Putin observed no ceasefire at all.
Gullible.

He knows this is gullible nonsense and does not believe it.
He just needs other people to believe it.
"A ceasefire on aerial infrastructure is in effect right after Trump and Putin's call," Waltz claims.

Compulsive liars are commonplace and not a threat to the free world.
The dangerous one are those that tailor their lies to be ones that will be believed.
This is actually quite easy.
You just say things that people want to believe are true.
Dictatorship 101: Its not compulsive liars but compulsive believers that are important.

Trump's professional life, political life and personal life, all rely entirely on deceit.

It is as predictable as it is reprehensible that he should lash out at the education system.
Educated people are harder to deceive.
Educated people don't like Trump.
So Trump lashes out at education.

So the MAGA marvel, with the might of the US behind him, issued his bully-boy ultimatum and brought the full might of his deal-making prowess to bear in a call with Putin.

Putin, a desperate man with a spent military and a tiny, crippled economy.

And Trump got...

...nothing.

There are two deeply symbolic aspects to Trump shutting down the Voice of America.

The obvious one, that he wants no light in the darkness of lies.

And another one, the fact that few of his supporters will have any idea what it was or did.
