a PSA: most nonprofit newsrooms right now are probably participating in the NewsMatch program RIGHT NOW. That’s a program funded by a few foundations that “matches” your end-of-year donation.

If you set up $10 monthly, that literally unlocks $120 from NewsMatch.

So who could you support?
i promise i don’t mean to high horse this but if you’re thinking about giving lizza ten bucks there are a lot of good independent journalists whose work you could subscribe to for a month instead

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

The whole family (cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc) drove up to Minnesota and spent a couple days camping at Valley Fair Amusement Park and a couple tubing on the Apple River. Afterwards, my dad, sis and I continued on for more camping on Madeline Island for a week.

What’s the bet that the liberals and leftists protesting here will be able to control themselves and not invade the Capitol building and smash things up? My guess: quite high.

With this declaration and the revolutionary war that followed, Americans rejected hereditary monarchy and created a constitutional republic in which would-be kings would have no place: no man would be above the law or the Constitution.

Looks like the “official” gov decided it was time to put their mark on Bluesky. Every single one starts out with a Hatch Act violation for a post and every single one deserves a block. Let’s make sure they have their own little echo chamber and block the shit out of them. If you see any others, add.

Here is a list of the government accounts that have showed up so far. I've already blocked them so I'll list the links to the accounts.

Amid reports that there were some survivors of the most recent U.S. boat bombing, I ask: would it be acceptable for Marines to pull up and shoot those survivors down in the water?
What’s the logical difference between that and what we’ve been doing?
Trump has crossed the line into murder.

ICE is already responsible for overloading shelters bc detained/fleeing families have to leave beloved pets behind. ICE will also kill a lot more dogs.

I know @weratedogs.com is already bold in taking political stances, but any amplification of this carelessness could further grind down ICE's rep.
EL PASO — a family says ICE showed up at their house looking for migrants and shot and KILLED THEIR DOG, then didn’t help them as the agent ran away and was not identified.

Democrats should just start insisting that they saw very real videos of people rioting at Mar-a-Lago -- overturning golf carts, setting fire to the brunch buffet, stabbing busboys with carving knives, whatever -- and calling on Trump to send the Illinois National Guard there to restore order.

Also: it makes zero sense to do a "deal" on any spending when Trump has already proven he will impound appropriated money at any time for any reason and SCOTUS has said repeatedly that him doing so is fine
In another era, a group of Republican Senators like Tillis, Cassidy, Collins and Murkowski would join with a handful of Democrats to iron out a deal to extend ACA subsidies and end the shutdown. But in a Trumpified GOP, there is little incentive to do that.

Buckle up — Republicans and Democrats appear dug in for a long government shutdown
Republicans say Democrats ‘don't have the high ground in this situation,’ Eric Garcia writes. But Democrats are unintimidated by threats from the Trump administration to target their states

Surely part of it, but explicitly calling for public opposition, protests, and to film and report everything also played a part IMO. Pritzker gave a greenlight and encouragement to that in a way others didn't, and that made an immediate difference.

Leaders *can* mobilize public opinion and action.
My guess is that his threat to prosecute feds who violate the rights of Chicagoans did it. Every D governor and AG should be making the same promise.
genuinely shocked that the pritzker pushback was successful
