I’m surprised Davie has resigned over that Panorama edit (seems like a bit of a nothingburger to me) but I’m glad he’s gone. On his watch the BBC simply gave up the ghost on factual documentary TV, and decided the best way to serve its audience was to patronise it.

Given that about 10% of Covid cases lead to "Long Covid" maybe making vaccinations free again* might be a thing to try.

* Or at least the same price as the fly jab, that would be something.

It's not a coincidence that AI appears now, as western capitalism transitions to a fascistic political norm. Fascism generates kitsch. Fascism is philistine. Fascism relies upon plagiarism. Fascism is bankrolled by monopoly. AI is monopoly committing theft to produce kitsch consumed by philistines.
AI is the new aesthetic of fascism

People on the Left really do need to read Nineteen-Eighty-Four and grasp Orwell's description of 'doublethink'. Doublethink is one of the most useful political concepts ever devised. It is the basic mechanism underlying political reaction. From something I wrote years ago:

He may have raised millions for charity exerting himself despite poor health and limited mobility, and died after a publicity tour orchestrated by a ruthlessly profit driven close family member, but Ozzy only really became Captain Tom on elevation to demigodhood by the most mawkish people in Britain

Falconer on Radio 4 Today: Sentencing Guidelines Bill “important to tackle perceptions of two tier policing”. We need to move on from apolitical culture of legislating to assuage people’s feelings. The Withdrawal Agreement Bill was only the biggest example.

No they do not, New York Times! This is like writing that Santa Claus has IBS.

Utterly subjective - but still one of the best Doctor Who stories of all time. Subversive, packed with ideas, opening up a universe of possibilities, dark, full of brilliant, grotesque characters, horrific, shocking and best of all really fucking funny. Loving every page.
