U.S. East Coast. Not the slightest interest in the survival of the U.S. empire, so I wouldn't be sorry to see it gone, a process that's likely to take a generation at least. Of course, it's not clear that whatever follows would be any better.

Just a head’s up that I’ve continued making updates to this guide: most recently, to remove the caveat on Here WeGo for not having CarPlay, adding Citymapper, and a suggestion to try the DVD/Blu-ray section at your local library as a streaming alternative. More to come!
Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
To which I would add:

1. Create Black- and Latino-majority states;
2. Give First Nations Congressional Representation;
3. Give American expats Congressional representation.
1. Universal healthcare

2. Multimember congressional districts with proportional representation (and add 100 seats to the House)

3. Tax the rich

4. Make DC and territories states

5. SCOTUS term limits

6. Gun control

Thank you @ilhanmn.bsky.social for making it plain.

The Somali community is vibrant and will not be intimidated by these shameful, cowardly attacks.
The president fails to realize how deeply Somali Americans love this country.

We are doctors, teachers, and elected leaders working to make our country better.

We will not let Trump intimidate or debilitate us. My op-ed:

I join people across the globe today in recognizing World AIDS Day. Tears for those lost, courage to those surviving the infection, and praise to scientists and doctors finding treatments and cures.
And shame on the Trump administration for attacking it all and despoiling this day.

This is the face of an American child. Israel has jailed him for 9 months without a charge. Without a protest from the US gov. Without a scandal in Western media.

Of course, this would've been front-page news daily had another country done this to an American child.

And that, incidentally, might herald the birth of a Transatlantic alliance of a new kind. But one question then becomes: Would the foreign policy elites that were trained to serve the "rules-based liberal" system be willing to transfer allegiance to this new regime?
But what the various illiberal far-right nationalist movements most share in common is the civilizational narrative of a decadent declining West, unable and unwilling to defend itself from the non-Western world, whether framed as an invading great replacement or a distant threat.

So again, global.

Worth considering
The country deserves a better, more principled publication that has the place in our media industry that 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘵𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘤 does. 𝘓𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 could one day occupy that role, if our growth continues as it has. Help us take our first real steps down that long road: www.gofundme.com/f/the-libera...

No idea who this Trevor Philips bloke is, but Western media must be full of non-whites like him who make a career of attacking other marginalised people with drive, energy, and apparent sincerity. Maybe there's now a large enough sample for a serious psychological study?
I genuinely find it astonishing that someone of colour could advocate the random picking of potential migrants to create a climate of fear among minoritised people.

I mean... how do you think thatll work for other black British people Trevor?

Canada is going to be one special place une fois les conservateurs revenus au pouvoir à Ottawa.

Agreed.
Addendum:

The reason I think Mamdani did well is that he achieved what he needed (a non-hostile Trump) without compromising on principle.

And I think that should be the model across the board: Pragmatic but principled.

A quick Google search tells me that assessment might be premature. It's true there seems to be no *coordinated national* student protest movement against the regime. But it appears questionable to conclude there are no student movements across the country.
Just why is it that there is not a student movement against autocracy in America? “No Kings”, ok. But that was weeks ago.
Where are all the people who stood up against the war in Gaza? Where are the permanent protest camps?
I find it baffling, but maybe I’m getting old.

That's actionable speech, right?
Greg Abbot called CAIR, the largest Muslim civil rights organization, a “terrorist organization” and said Muslims are a “threat to our freedom.”

The normalization of anti-Muslim hate speech is vile.

This bigot should have no place in elected office.

Merz weg vom Fenster.
Daher zunächst unwahrscheinlich.
