Imagine if we truly came to know this ourselves. Imagine if we came to understand ourselves, not as apart from nature observing it, but a part of nature, in fact, nature ourselves together with the rest of the living biome. Imagine the transformation- the awe, the coherence, and even the joy.

The subtext of all the misinformation on the LA wildfires is: we could have prevented this from happening, even with climate change, by competent "adaptation."
I think it would be really helpful if trusted scientific voices could start making it even more clear that adaptation has limits.

It's important to acknowledge the loss of heritage & how that will contribute to grief. It's also important to remember that heritage always includes and works with loss, recovering from the fire will use heritage and create new heritage.
