Mr Blackpool’s Seaside Spectacular, an end of the pier show at the end of the world…

6th November, Northern Stage, presented with Curious Arts.

8th November, Southbank Centre.

Commissioned by @marlboroughprods.bsky.social and @attenboroughctr.bsky.social. Supported by Arts Council England.
Four performers are on a stage in various positions. Two at either side of the image are dressed in drag as Mick Hucknall and are on go karts. One on the left of the image is pulling a face akin to a grimace and the other is giving fashion. They are in large wigs and black suits with white shirts. One performer at the back of the image in the centre left is stood up holding a CO2 gun and is dressed in drag as a stick of rock. The other performer at the front of the image centre right is laid on the floor in a giant lilac feather showgirl costume with one arm holding the headdress. Behind the performers is heras fencing, traffic panels and pyro. Throughout the image is confetti. The lights are lilac and it looks incredibly exciting.

Banal update but honestly finding the trains so unreliable these days that coach journeys are just really doing it for me. Way cheaper too. Sure, they take a little longer, but I just have nana nap. Removes the worry about freezing on platforms while multiple services cancel again and again.

Two years since we lost my dad. A complex relationship, for sure, but I come back to two quotes of his that offer me immense comfort when I think of him.

“I may not have been like most parents are or should be, and I can’t change that, but I’m very proud of you.”
