Most worrying for me however was the ease with which a reasonably sensible person can get dragged into it. I found myself logging in just to reply to idiotic posts, in my mind highlighting the idiocy, without realising I was just contributing even more to it. It was a sobering realisation

It’s not as bad as I’d read about, it’s far far worse. It really is populated by far right wingnuts, girls promoting their onlyfans accounts and bots with the most idiotic posts designed purely to illicit a response. I’d been strict with my follows but rarely saw a coherent post

After a few weeks of this nagging away at me I caved and signed up for it, tried to cultivate a profile of accounts based on a few of my interests, weeded out the obvious bellends and let things play out for a few weeks. After roughly a month back on there I’ve concluded the following

I left twitter when space Karen took over and have since dabbled with mastodon, something with a whale who’s name escapes me, threads before settling on Bluesky but recent I’d become curious if twitter had settled down and started to approach something like its old self.
