I have just read #Havering council's draft "air quality action plan 2025-30" for @cyclehavering.bsky.social and @haveringstreets.bsky.social.

Here is my mood in meme form.

The family friendly version.

We've objected to the proposal. The kerb radii are being left at around 9 metres and Simpson Road is a rat-run. This is a very poor way to use scarce investment and we think filtering the estate will be far more useful.

#Havering council is consulting on a "Copenhagen style crossing" in the entrance to Simpson Road, at its junction with Mungo Park Road.

Except it isn't a "Copenhagen style crossing" it is a very standard UK "side road entrance treatment" also known as a "speed table"

Indeed. This is what we and @cyclehavering.bsky.social provided in response to the council's draft.

We'll dig into this to find out how responses were reported to councillors and if a consultation report was provided.

We've been keeping an eye on #Havering council's active travel strategy, for which the consultation closed on 6th December last year.

Despite the intention to have a decision to adopt made by cabinet being published back in April, it won't be going forward until November.

In 2008 the House of Commons Transport Committe recommended far wider use of 20mph limits with PACTS recommending a 20mph national default. Had UK Gov done that in 2008, then Welsh evidence (-25%) shows it would have saved over 300,000 casualties on UK roads since then.

Wait, what?

Extending this lovely little cycle track beyond the budget we had for the adjacent junction? Yes please.*

*It's our location elections next year, so who's to say if this makes it to consultation before.

#Havering council is consulting on Phase 2 of its electric vehicle charging point scheme.

We are concerned that several of the proposals will be placing charging units on narrow footways and so have written to object to the following sites:

Cedar Road
Malvern Road

Kings Park in Harold Wood will be getting a permit parking scheme.

We are pleased to see this as managing car parking is important from a safety perspective and with this location, it will prevent people driving into the area and parking for Harold Wood station.

We think it's #Havering council's role to investigate the art of the possible with every project they will be spending money on. Managing the road network for only those who drive is exclusionary.
And here with me being a bit pedantic with myself. Runs in 4 stages:
🚦 Main road, both arms, tidal early cut-off to clear right turns.
🚦 Western arm
🚦 Eastern arm
🚦 All round pedestrians and cycles

1 to 3 are essentially the council's plan with the staggered junction, 4 clearly new.

Very little being consulted on by #Havering and we think it will be even quieter in the months running up to next May's London local elections, but we would recommend you complete the community safety survey and add as much as you can about safer streets
