So excited about my new puzzle. Who knows, I might even finish it in the near future!

Woke up randomly thinking of Raiktor, the Eastern Orthodox monk that pretended to be Eastern emperor Michael VII.
Everyone probably knew he wasn't, obviously, but his presence suited many people. Most of all that sly fox Robert Guiscard, who used him as a casus belli.

Excellent advice

One of the most wondrous things about toddlers is their seemingly random associations. Our eldest saw a camel on tv and said he looked like dad... still trying to figure that one out.

Four years ago I took this photo of my soon-to-be new hometown, Groningen. Still in love with this city.

Universities do not exist to 'train', produce 'skills' or generate 'impact'. They exist to create new knowledge and teach about it. Any assertion to the contrary is in error, and is destroying everything it touches.

You know that the old app has gotten even worse when you wake up to a notification from a certain Matt G*tz (whom I don't follow of course). Not how I want to start my day. But it has made me motivated enough to finally figure out how to stop notifications so there's that

Escaping from all the stuff that's going on in the world right now by watching (mostly British) detective series. Amongst the current faves are Sister Boniface, Shetland, Madame Blanc, and McDonald & Dodds. What are others watching/doing to take their minds of things?

I've just realised I haven't introduced our cat to twitter yet! Our sweet, anxious, allergic Ivar, who is still figuring out how to be a cat. This involves jumping into rather than onto things, being terrified of mice, and anxiously peeing in the baby's bed.

Relatable
Me popping back to Twitter to see if it's improved....

The baby is now 5 months old, and I'm finally starting to have a bit of me-time in the evenings. Soon I might be able to actually read more than a couple of sentences in a book again. Honestly so excited.

Happy St Martin's Day with this splendid #medievalsky miniature from an 11th-century manuscript made at Fulda and preserved at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek Bamberg (MS Lit. 1, fol. 170r: nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:b...; CC BY-SA 4.0). Get your lanterns ready! 🏮

I'm loving the starter packs people have been making here. Is there one for medieval literature yet?

I'm absolutely baffled by CCCU's decision to cut English Literature, and very worried about their comment that it is no longer viable 'in the current climate'.
Petition against the closure of English Literature at CCCU.
Just got a link to it from a friend who works there - docs.google.com/forms/d/1ndL...

One day in for me, and this app already feels so much better and friendlier than Twitter.
