Question for chronic illness/pain friends:

I'm waking up in pretty significant pain! Esp. neck and shoulders.

What are your favorite pain relief tips and resources?

We only rate dogs. This is a very cuddly croissant. We understand the confusion between puppies and pastries, but please only send dogs. Thank you... 12/10

Food sensitivity test results were helpful, though didn't show as much improvement as hoped. It's taken awhile to process this news and come up with a new plan. 🥲🙏🏻🫂

CW: IBS
Next step: comprehensive stool test, especially since I've been dealing with bad diarrhea almost daily for over a year. 😢🫂🙏🏻

When lockdowns started, people said: “this is what your life is like all the time? I had no idea!”

They seemed to understand how hard it is to be disabled & housebound. I found support & empathy.

Then they got bored. Wanted their “normal” back. Support vanished & disabled people were left behind.

"If we were to see immune damage manifesting at a population level, it would look like what we’re seeing today: big waves of common illnesses. Unusual spikes of uncommon illnesses. Course reversal for previously declining and eliminated illnesses. An unexplained, global wave of sickness."
Kids keep getting sicker as evidence for COVID immune damage builds
As the press pushes "immunity debt" past the breaking point of believability, are parents ready to wake up to the illness crisis?

How ought we to approach our own privileges?
With honesty, humility, and thankfulness.
With stewardship and generosity.

Such good advice. So important to give yourself grace, and expect care from those who wish to be your friends. If they cannot accept that I have limitations, and offer me kindness, they aren't worth the inordinate amount of time and effort it takes me to deeply engage.

This book looks so cool! I wanted to shout it out, for my fellow TCKs, as well as for those who are interested in better understanding and caring for TCKs 🥲💕🙏🏻🗺️
I'm probably most well known as the author of Misunderstood: The Impact of Growing Up Overseas in the 21st Century. Released in 2016, in Misunderstand I draw on 270 interviews with TCKs from diverse backgrounds and a survey of 750+ Adult TCKs to share how #TCKs experience international childhoods.

When you are chronically ill, my advice is to maintain as many relationships as you can, even if in a limited way. However, do prioritize relationships that are safe, kind, accepting, and characterized by mutual effort. 🫂🙏🏻🥲💕 #spoonies #community

What brings you #JOY these days? (Pics/gifs welcome)

For me: sincere compliments, the sound of rain on a tin roof, fresh coffee, cuddles with my husband, funny YouTube videos or TV shows, going on little outings that include beautiful views & fun snacks, and remembering/imagining peaceful times 😍❣️

It's okay to be single and fulfilled on Valentine's Day.

It's okay to be part of a happy couple on Valentine's Day.

It's okay to be at home, three cell phones in front of you, fielding desperate calls from people who want to buy one of the 50 restaurant reservations you made over six months ago.

We need to keep pushing to make Bluesky accessible for all. Alt text is critically important for people who rely on screen readers, and it’s not hard to do!

If you’re struggling, ask for help or tag #Alt4Me. People will happily assist you so everyone can enjoy your content.
The reason I wanted people to keep thinking about accessibility wasn't just for the sake of accessibility, but because thinking about accessibility means thinking about others' needs and believing they matter.

Even when they aren't your needs.
And I've been very clear that part of the reason I came in storming about alt text was partly because I had a huge sense of urgency about making sure there was some kind of accessibility in people's consciousness with all the anti-masking sentiment going on. I wanted to jam a foot in the door.

If you DID watch the Super Bowl, what was your favorite part? It could be something to do with: the game, a party, food, celebrities, or music.

I've ordered some like new compression socks from Mercari to help replace my current ones (which are stretched out after over 6 months of regular use). Got some Wellow ones (super comfortable for around the house, though a bit lower on the compression side). Also, going to try Bombas 20-30 mm! :D

I know I'm asking a "how is babay formed?" level question so plz be kind:

What's the process for fighting health insurance companies to cover things? I don't mean for individuals, I mean for groups.

Home IV services frankly keep many people w/ POTS alive and should be considered covered treatment.

If you are an American and/or if you live in the United States AND if you will NOT be watching the Superbowl, I'm curious as to why? 🙂 (I'm guessing that some people are busy, others don't enjoy watching football, etc.)
