Looking for wine, cheese, film noir, jazz, murder mysteries, and Star Wars all the time. Thinking about Ben Solo most of the time. The fallout from TROS spreads far and wide but Reylos keep winning
Pinned
Love how both of these shots are framed: both of them dark on the left side, with the light expanding bigger & bigger to the right, and Kylo is standing closer to the darkest side in his shot while Rey is standing closer to the lightest side in her shot

I have so many thoughts about the shattered modern attention span and the insistence of media-illiterate audiences & readers on being spoonfed stories.

If they aren’t having information disgorged directly down their throats like baby birds, it’s “too slow” or “dense” and I want to scream.
When our son was 10 he would ask questions about whatever narrative we were consuming together and it took one talk like "those questions you're always asking are called the story and if you're patient you'll find that they get answered eventually" and a lot of the internet needs that refresher.
"WHY'S SHE DOING THAT?? WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT, I'M BORED" well the cool thing about following a narrative is that eventually if you keep watching or reading or listening, magical bits of information are doled out

The gamergate to MAGA psyop really messed with the US in tangible ways <gestures broadly at the current state of affairs.>

And no one really believed the canaries in that particular coal mine because a very vocal minority really didn't like girls and folks of color in their nerd stuff.

I don’t agree with the segregation of fandom.

Star Wars has always been a cool sandbox and there’s plenty of great SW outside the OT too. As someone alive throughout the 90s it’s astounding it’s still around.

The highs of SW carry the lows, ever since the Holiday Special, but the highs are HIGH.

If @theguardian.com who had 10.5 million followers on X can leave, so can you.

There's absolutely no excuse for staying.

I have huge admiration and respect for The Guardian for taking a stand and living up to their name.

If you're a good person you should follow their example and leave X.

You inspired me! I bought a laptop for a 20 yo looking to finish their GED. What a wonderful idea.
I have been looking at Black Friday sales for a week but I do not actually need anything so instead I closed all those tabs and bought a Polaroid for a foster kid in Florida who uses photography to deal with big feelings. Perhaps you would like to do the same for one of the kids at the link below?
🧵 We are, in fact, doing the thing again for @onesimplewish.bsky.social. In 2024, the kind people of this community put the money cannon on blast to help grant $75K in wishes for children in foster care. Toys, tech, a suit for job interviews. Here we go again! 👇

It’s fun to think about the surgeon who will botch your surgery 20 years from now and what he’s doing at this moment. He just ran all his homework through ChatGPT. He just read that article about vaccines and autism at the CDC website. He just watched an Instagram video about the moon landing hoax.

I'm at the Target boycott, I'm at the Starbucks boycott, I'm at the combination Target boycott and Starbucks boycott
Beginning Monday, a Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate drink will be available exclusively at Starbucks cafés inside Target stores.

The chains are hoping the drink can drum up excitement from customers this holiday season.

Starbucks workers are on strike. Chronic understaffing, unfair wages and hundreds of unfair labor practices pushed a 92% super-majority to walk out on Red Cup Day and beyond.

The Working People Podcast with @maximillianalvarez.bsky.social speaks with the baristas on taking an indefinite stand.
Facing unprecedented labor violations, Starbucks workers overwhelmingly agree to strike indefinitely

Major media outlets have little to no interest in holding the wealthy and powerful accountable. Probably because major media outlets these days are dominated by the wealthy and the powerful and the people who want nothing more than to be near them.

Un hombre marcado por su pasado luchando por algo más grande que él.

This movie is one of my guilty pleasures. He takes a role where he says maybe 100 words total & makes the character somehow tender, tragic, & yet totally convincing as a tough as nails, terrifying avenging angel (or revenging devil?). He does so much with just his face & his line delivery. So good
unfortunately this kind of line is always going to hit for me. it's never not satisfying.
