for some reason, I remembered how this guy I hung out with in grade 9 used to give me a hard time for how I phrased things, but it was the most basic stuff; "I saw this elderly person-" "oooh look at Mr Fancy Words! "Elderly!""
"The day before yesterday-" "Wow Mr Speaks Properly!"

Both super envious of everyone in Annecy right now, and also aware that there's a decent chance I probably wouldn't enjoy myself that much if I was there. FOMO's weird.

Ah, that special twice-in-a-decade occasion when conservatives are desperately hoping to see a minority.

These ghouls need to lose badly tomorrow. Not just because they deserve it, but because their success or failure says a lot about the kind of country we are, the kind of country we want to be, and the kind of country we will be.

With all this AI slop everywhere it has me wondering if there will be an artistic response to it along the lines of how painters reacted to photography. Will we see, for lack of a better word, more idiosyncratic execution, less polish & refinement towards a singular goal. More expressionistic.

The French remain S tier protesters.
ELECTREK: “.. I won’t share the link to the article since it gives step-by-step instructions on how to burn down Tesla stores without getting caught, but the manifesto explains .. it’s ‘doable and cheap.’”

I'm going to start pronouncing "sanguine" like I pronounce "Linguine"

... also I'm going to start saying "sanguine"

Perfectly put. I've long felt this way, a reason why, despite being a huge Golden Age fan, every time I'm asked what my dream project would be, I never say a specific character or property, it's always about the ideas, style, or leadership
saw this on twitter, Stephen Worth made some extremely good points about what originality is animation production design these days and how nostalgia sometimes passes this point of no return in terms of relatability...

...and what it means to be a consumer vs a creative as an animation artist

I've long joked with my wife that Kyle MacLachlan is the oldest Kyle because it's such a GenX/Millennial name. So I finally looked up a list of notable Kyles and let me tell you, he's got to be the tenth person in the history of all of humanity to be named Kyle

I've really meant to be more active posting on here, but every week there are so many things going on that make everything seem so trivial. It's exhausting.

Thank you to everyone who has been posting fun/interesting stuff. I'll start talking about cartoons and things soon!

I did a proper hand drawn animation (paperless) for the first time in years and it was an identical experience to doing life drawing for the first time in years: 1-false confidence 2-intense frustration 3- despair 4- enjoyment.

I need to make time to do it more often

It's just a teaser, the proof will be in the pudding, but the things that I liked about the teaser: the trunks, spit-curl, the yellow shield on the cape; awkward, goofy Clark making space for everyone around him in a crowd; hair that moves(!); the scifi & silver age elements; life & colour!

I saw Flow with my wife and son recently. What a wonderful film. Dialogue free stories are very hard to do well, but it was excellent. My kid had so much to talk to us about after. I highly recommend it if you can see it

My team is finishing on our show this week (I stay on longer) and our final meetings have been so much more somber than what I'm accustomed to. With the state of the industry right now, I think we've all been aware of how fortunate we are to be working, making the vibes A+

while drawing with my 5yo recently, he was getting so frustrated that his drawings weren't "perfect." He'd make a few strokes, then get angry and cross them out and throw the paper on the floor. It was breaking my heart that he was already at this stage and couldn't enjoy just drawing
