So many of these type of posts again passing by.
Non-experts claiming a non-expert is "right".

Problem is, where is the evidence of that "right". There is none, and experts see through that, immediately, from 2020.
I paid close attention to AJ Leonardi in the other place. Right from the get go he hammered on about T cell damage.
So many people tried to discredit him (looking at you Zeynap). But I believe his observations have substance. #ImmunityLost

Great read from @thetyee.ca

Dr. Anthony Leonardi is a lightning rod for debate. If he’s right, this pandemic poses a greater threat than widely assumed.

The paper “COVID-19 is ‘Airborne AIDS’” is activism, not science. It uses fear-laden imagery to provoke emotion. No peer-reviewed data support a functional parallel between HIV’s chronic immune destruction and SARS-CoV-2 acute infection.

How unexpected, Harry Spoelstra, David Joffe and Zdenek Vrozina, fall for this nonsense. Why? Not because they understand it, not because they even read it or checked any of the references. The take it because it fits their Doom ideology. It is a cult.

On X there is a very strange bird. It constantly spreads alarming posts, pretending to know something about infection and immunlogy. It does not.

What it does is scaning UKHSA data, cherry-picking and trying to produce graphs with that data, suggestive of something scary

This ignoramus is harming Science and people.

This papers shows that your immune response, particularly your T cells, respond very good and are on good shape after SARS-COV-2 infection! It provides good evidence there is no immune damage‼️

1️⃣ Stop the nonsense: COVID-19 is not “airborne AIDS.” 🤦‍♂️
SARS-CoV-2 does not cause generalized immune deficiency. Severe immune changes? Only in hospitalized patients, and they recover post-infection.

When I saw that someone had published an absurd paper claiming that COVID-19 and HIV were comparable, I was going to do a deep dive.

But it turns out @marcveld.bsky.social already did it:

The end is near. Only the Discussion and Conclusions.
It was, as a scientist, terrible to read. As a lay person, you may be taking in by it, but it is all BS what the WHN claim. None, really none of their claims are substantiated by scientific valid data

They act indistinguishably from antivaxxers: no knowledge, no context, no reading, no understanding. So it must be a conspiracy; the government, Big Pharma, paid experts, anything but the possibility that they might simply be very wrong.

I’ve been saying this many times: challenge what they claim, what the words they’re using mean. Ask them to define them, to provide evidence from good primary literature, and let them explain what is good, why, and what it means.

No, Harry, you fail again to read and understand. In a subgroup of moderate-severe COVID-19 patients, without any prior immunity (1st wave!), some may take a little longer to fully recover lymphocyte numbers (particularly B cells) in the blood. No prior numbers known, age is different, etc.

There was no lymphopenia, no superantigen, no immune damage/dysfunction/exhaustion. There are no large outbreaks of infections. Furthermore, there are no increases in cancers due to SARS-CoV-2 infection, no compounded risk of longCovid, etc.

Now it is brain damage 🤦‍♂️

Claiming “no study shows repeat COVID is harmless” flips science on its head. The burden of proof is on those claiming harm. Data from millions show no cumulative immune or organ damage; reinfections are milder thanks to hybrid and vaccine immunity.

With the viral season upon us, the debate over vaccination will flare up again.

It remains strange to watch: the advantages are many, well established, and increasingly better supported by evidence, including benefits against non-communicable diseases.
