Our first official chapter event! GSUS West MI and DSA Southwest MI will be co-hosting a Union Teach In at First United Methodist Church in Kzoo at 3 pm.

Following this, the church will be hosting a concert benefiting a local food pantry that we have also been invited to.

ROOTS is an initiative we are working to implement here in Michigan. We need volunteers to help us do it. The more volunteers we have, the more food we can grow, and the more we can rely on our community instead of the state. You can find more information in the ROOTS Toolkit in our bio.

The ingredients for freedom are simple: labor, action, and unity. The workers, the unemployed, the incarcerated, the unhoused, students, tenants and so on all contribute to the lifeblood of this system. To seize the beans of production is to take back what our hands already create.

HOW GSUS UPLIFTS AND INCLUDES DISABLED COMRADES IN THE MOVEMENT: Liberation Includes Everyone. We know liberation means all of us or none of us. GSUS works to make sure our disabled comrades are not just included but centered in how we organize, build, and fight together. We build a movement where everyone has a place, power, and voice. Accessibility is revolutionary, because none of us are free until all of us are. Beyond Capitalist Measures of Value: "From each according to their ability, to each according G their need" Karl Marx. Not everyone can labor in the same way, but everyone deserves care, dignity, and access. Capitalism disposes of people it deems "unproductive". We refuse that logic and build systems where value isn't defined by exploitation. HOW GSUS UPLIFTS AND INCLUDES DISABLED COMRADES IN THE MOVEMENT: Value Beyond Labor. GSUS doesn't expect everyone to give equally, we recognize structural barriers and center accessibility. Those who can't "give time" in the traditional sense still receive resources and care as a right, not a debt. Their lived experience, insight, and presence are also valuable forms of contribution. Many Ways to Contribute. Listening, emotional support, storytelling, knowledge sharing Remote tasks: phone calls, check-ins, art, zines, translation Being part of decision-making, helping shape the vision Teaching others about access, survival, and disability justice. HOW GSUS UPLIFTS AND INCLUDES DISABLED COMRADES IN THE MOVEMENT: Accessibility Is Collective Liberation. GSUS has an accessibility team, and we're always looking to grow it with more disabled comrades and allies. Your experience, insight, and leadership are vital to this movement. We know accessibility isn't a side issue. It`s part of building real solidarity. Disabled comrades can help us strengthen connections with groups fighting for disability rights, justice, and access, and make sure our organizing reflects everyone's needs.
