Minne Sorta Nice
Wicked for Good thoughts:

Oz is the generational wealth version of a typical Seuss village.

Glinda’s wedding dress was underwhelming. It had to be intentional to keep it from overshadowing her other gowns?

We liked it but not quite as much as the first.

Whenever some sanctimonious Dem announces that America needs a functioning Republican Party, I always think “I’d settle for a functioning Democratic Party.”

The number of people who don’t realize people who win elections don’t immediately take power is far too high.

Can we finally put to bed the idea that we should be meek and "safe" and run to the middle??

Universal (or at the very least, affordable) childcare and healthcare. Housing that fits our families and our budgets. Trans rights. Repro rights. Free and fair elections.

And oh yeah, hope and joy.

I’m impatiently waiting to see the results of our local referendum and just saw our neighboring town passed theirs with a margin of just six votes. Six! This is why you don’t skip a single election if you’re eligible to vote.

If tonight is any indication, that pendulum is going to swing back hard. It’s unfortunate that so many people have been or will be harmed by the current administration before it does.

A big thank you to our poll workers and election judges for your commitment to democracy. Minnesota’s elections are safe, free, and fair because of you.

I was feeling nostalgic for the days of making costumes and taking the kids trick or treating. Meeting up with old friends for margaritas and Mexican food while our teenagers did their on thing helped balance that out.

Similar to Tyler Childers’ Bitin’ List. I have a Punchin’ List for when I learn how to properly throw a punch. No rabies required.
Nancy Mace is one of those people who is deeply miserable yet not as miserable as she deserves.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who is running for governor of her state, berated the police and TSA officials at Charleston International Airport, according to a report.

“She repeatedly stated [officials] were ‘F------ Incompetent,’” the report said.

Owning land where soybeans are grown does not make you a soybean farmer, Scott.
Bessent on American farmers being hurt by tariffs: "Martha, in case you don't know it, I'm actually a soybean farmer, so I have felt this pain too."

During an interview on Tuesday I glitched and my brain went completely blank during their last question. I mostly recovered and asked good questions at the end, but I had resigned myself to it not being enough. I must have done better than I thought because I got asked back for the second round!

If raising good kids is an act of resistance, having L1’s new girlfriend’s dad tell us how much they appreciate him and what a “kind, respectful, and thoughtful young man” he is felt like a win.

Elizabeth Taylor is one of my “talk for an hour about a niche topic” subjects. While the marriages, jewels, and glamour are at the forefront in the discourse about the new T Swift song, I hope people are also introduced to her real legacy - her HIV and AIDS activism.

This is accurate based on personal experience.
few things to note about this story:

- the batshit last bit, obvi;
- the Strib put a lot of bylines on this, which is good, but I would especially note that this story was fact checked by a Minnesota woman named MaryJo and my experience with such women suggests that they do not suffer bullshit

If I ever angrily throw a clipboard at an eighth grade volleyball team, please remove me from society. It’s a game, I promise it’s not that serious. Being nasty to a volunteer line judge (me!) is also over the top, but at least I’m another adult.

I used to brush off the claims that he can’t read. It just seemed unbelievable. Today changed my mind. He couldn’t even sound out a word that is pronounced just how it’s spelled.

I guess I should have put money on six months.
I listen to a lot of American history and Hollywood history podcasts. How long before we have this era’s version of HUAC? It feels inevitable at this point.

Helping out at a volleyball tournament this morning. A player got stepped on and it broke her ankle. EMS came and took her out on a stretcher. Poor girl’s parents aren’t here.

It sometimes feels like we’re maybe doing too much by having at least one of us at every single thing, but this is why.

Made the mistake of checking Facebook. Good grief. I knew I lived among people I fundamentally disagree with, but it’s still disappointing when people I wasn’t sure about show their true colors.

Harvest time is hard on farmers even in the best of times. While I hate seeing family farms fail, actions have consequences. It doesn’t change the markets or any of the other damage that’s been done, but at least our family hasn’t ever voted to make things worse for ourselves or our neighbors.

I have a few things coming up where attendance is required. I am less than thrilled. Today I told my husband I was planning to approach them like I’m Marshawn Lynch at a press conference.

Made a giant bowl of pasta salad for a get together at our house last night. 20+ guests barely put a dent in it. None of the people I live with eat it. So, I’m just eating out of the big bowl whenever the urge strikes.
