I think a lot of the people that prefer the pink castle like the way it looks during very specific times of day and from very specific angles without acknowledging that it looks atrocious 23:45 hours a day!

This is wonderful news! I went to see the carousel about 15 months ago on a trip to LA and was heartbroken to see it in such poor repair.

There's a video essay on Nebula by Linsay Ellis on the topic of Disney ride rethemes and "brand slaps" as some veteren Imagineers call them. I don't agree with every point she makes, but I think her broader argument about the IP-ifcation of the parks and how it tends to degrade the parks is spot on.
